I wonder what's up with Jason Anderson this year. The guy was the 2018 SX Champion...and now seems lucky to do top-5. Yeah, I know the "field is stacked"...but are the top guys that much faster than he is, or has he been sick like some others?

I'm no fanboy, but I like to see his balls-out (and jersey out too) style of riding.

Its still early. He won 2018 by not fucking it up. That strategy could still work.

4th in points, 17 out on KR who is back to his normal self (and might not be riding at 100% with his hoof), 14 behind Eli who is in the best spot he's ever been on the west coast swing and 2 back on Barcia who is trending downward.

And he's doing it more relaxed than anyone without his head up his own ass. I think he's doing alright.

Also, seems like a stretch to say "lucky to get top 5" with 5-3-5-3-5 finishes thus far.

Dude’s finished 5-3-5-3-5 thru 5 races and sitting 4th in points, 17 behind 1st... I’d say he’s in a good position, not necessarily setting the world on fire, but consistent and playing it safe in a field where top 5’s are pretty hard. It’s nothing like going 2-1-3-4-1, as he did in 2018. Last year he went 14-2-9 before getting hurt.. so, there that.

lucky to be top 5? He has literally been in the top 5 in all 5 rounds and on the podium twice..

I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with him, he just hasn't put himself up front with the top guys (KR, ET) to be able to challenge them. He's sitting 4th in points right now behind JB and ahead of CW, so that's not too shabby. He's just got to get some good starts, these cats are too close in speed to spot them any track position. I don't think we've heard the last of him, lots of racing ahead.

Yep, and I bet he moves up to 3rd in points after this weekend.

Well, he is a pretty lucky guy...

He's said on multiple occasions he likes where they are at for the moment; quiet rides, good results, not making any headlines for up and down like the dreaded 2019 campaign. Yes, he wants to win, but I think he knows he's firmly in that 3-5 range on most nights for now, though he could build that into more podiums and a win or two. To contend for a title, he needs to knock a couple marks in the W column, but to say he's "struggling" would be about as far off as it could be.

Doesn’t start ‘til Daytona bro!

But for real OP, how can you make this thread? It feels like you haven’t watched any of the races this year or even bothered to look at the results with that type of comment. I don’t get it.

Yeah, he actually is the ONLY rider with a top five finish for each round so far. LOL (no one has got top 5 in each round in 250 either)

Consistency wins championships.
(read that in a book)
Better starts would help a shitload though.

I like Anderson...but I think he was lucky to win the championship in 18.

Rooting for Roczen this year. Webb has more years in him than Kenny at this point...but I'm not counting him out just yet.

Tomac is gonna choke again.

It seems like he doesn’t want to put pressure on himself. He is having fun and enjoying life. I’m thinking he’s going to stay consistent and then go all out at the end of the season.

Yer a mouthbreathing idiot.... Easily top five on here.
Anderson is usually top 3 in lap times for
the mains
I'd say he's right where he wants to be. He'll win one or two of these pretty soon.

About all those Top 5s...

Anyone-else have that kind of consistency?

His starts have not been super, except for the 3rd gangbang at Glendale when he was leading and it was red-flagged. I think if he can start in the top 5 he's a threat for a win on any night (except maybe Daytona).

Anderson is about where he normally would be. Lack of big names played a huge part in his championship. Not to say he "lucked" into it. It is, what it is though.

I agree he’s waiting calmly for his moment. we can argue how much time he has, but the guy has speed so if he’s playing a supercross rope-a-dope, it would be a historic strategy

Anderson sure as hell won't be afraid to play hardball with Webb or anyone else. If he's in it to win it look out.
