Just catching up on swapmotos pit bits and noticed that Amsoil has ended their sponsorship the Amateur team after 20 years. Bummer deal.

And in other news, cbdMD was named the “exclusive” CBD partner of SX. One has to wonder what that exclusivity entails. Will other riders/teams be allowed to promote other CBD brands in the pits, gear, and bikes?

Didn’t they make Deano put duct tape over an Ignit CBD logo just recently?

"Exclusive" means you will not see another CBD company logo other than "cbdMD" anywhere near a Feld Supercross event in 2020..

So, how long until we start filling crank cases with 10w40 CBD? Probably requires a HIGH compression piston, too...Laughing

NBC did, not FELD.
NBC provided nice tail cover.
Feld wasn't gonna fend the heat.
jmo.

Now that CBD MD is one of the most visible sponsors, it's obvious that it was never a legitimate concern. They saw that CBD companies had an interest in the sport and secured an exclusive deal. While the details of their deal were being ironed out, they banned all the riders from having CBD sponsorships. Scumbags!!

Sucks for the teams and riders, but this seems the most accurate prediction of the future of CBD sponsors in SX/MX.

Saw this on Racerx's Instagram this morning. Was surprised it took this long for a thread to appear.

Was it Field or the State, which the race was held in, that was stopping them from advertising CBD products? Thought some races they were running it and others they couldn't depending on the various state laws.

Funny how a bunch of money getting flashed in their face , can make a big company back track the way Feld just did. Totally against the sponsorship of a rider ( who brought it to the sport ) , but when they , themselves get approached.......get down on their knee's and start swallowing! Fucking pathetic.

If Feld is going to prohibit the display of other CBD companies' logo, then those slimeballs ought to pay base wage for the privateers. Or perhaps they should be sued for anticompetitive business practices.

Didn’t Feld pull something similar with action cameras? Riders brought in their own sponsors and they stopped it because it wasn’t the “official” one that they allowed? Bunch of bull.

Will be interesting to see if they allow other CBD sponsors for riders and teams. It's okay for different energy drinks... what I don't remember is if Chad Reed was allowed to run logos for the camera or not. I do know they wouldn't let him run the actual camera because GoPro had the "exclusive rights" to on track footage or something like that.

My guess is other CBD sponsors will be allowed similar to energy drinks.

Same thing the UFC did with Reebok (except they pay fighters some minimal amount to keep them quiet - Feld doesn'teven do that)...basically shutting out any other revenue stream...

Reminds me of the whole GoPro exclusive deal and then Chad showing up with whatever 360 degree camera that was.

Feld saw privateer Dean Wilson working hard to bring in new sponsorship channels and said "Screw that. No privateer is breaking even around here. That CBD money is coming straight to us"

Feld and the companies than ran SX before them have a long history of poaching sponsors from teams. This is no surprise.

The riders need a union to represent their interests. They're the only sport that can fill stadiums and a 3+ hour TV broadcast that isn't ensuring that every athlete in the main event makes at least a million dollars. Never mind how little champions take home for being the very best at a very risky sport with such a short window of opportunity to earn money compared to other sports.

As someone who is an avid fan of this sport and also someone who is not on board with any form of cannabis products for my own personal reasons, if it's true that this CBDMD deal will prohibit any riders from having personal sponsors (i.e. Dean and Ignite), let me say emphatically, from the bottom of my heart, on behalf of all riders

Sue them, what is the step... Red Bull and Rockstar logos being taped? FELD signing a exclusive contract with Gucci and everyone racing in Gucci?

You guys can bash European union as much as you want, but in European Court this exclusive contract won't stand for long.

That is true. In the EU exclusive contracts (and especially in sports) are not allowed. It's called "cartel formation" and it's forbidden.

Yep. They can't promote their sponsors inside the venue. Outside they can. These guys are way better at getting outside sponsors though.

Interesting that tgey are both snake oils
CBD is not snake oil. It just usually requires a minimum of 500-600mg to notice anything. For some it requires much more. With that said, it very well may not work at all for some. It is definitely expensive, at least to me.

Same story, different product. Feld stealing from their own honey pot. Never get high off your own supply.
