Amateur Racing Payout All Classes

I think rule changes towards payouts in all racing classes at least at major events could help the sport.
My idea is a 60/40 split but it could be changed it’s just a idea. 60% to top 10 in each class 40% to promoters.42 riders per class at Lorettas at $75 per class is $3,150 split that is $1890 to distribute to top 10 in each class leaving $1260 to promoter.
Payouts
1st-$550
2nd-$342
3rd-$228
4th-10th $110
This plus contingency is better than a trophy and a drop in the hat for the effort that family's put in to race at this level.
Other niche sports such as Fishing and competition coon hunting have similar payout formats at all levels of each sport from local to major events and has also helped participation.

Will never happen. Will never be consider and will never even be brought to the table to discuss.

Why move to the A or Pro class when you can get paid to sandbag. Back many years ago, the only way to get ANY support was to get in the Pro class. Yes it costs more money to race now but it was not cheap then. JMO

The cream will always rise to the top if you want to make it pro you'll put forth the effort. A class could have a payout for only the top 3 to be more competitive. I think the notion is the money will delegitimize the amateur part of the sport but I think it could help grow the sport. I mean not everyone is looking to go pro they're just out there having fun and
that little extra money could make it make sense to actually go racing instead of just going out for practice days. A 1st place will not even cover all the gear you are wearing to race but it will help with the cost of enjoying your hobby. I can't grasp the concept iof distributing money back to us the riders a bad thing?

The entries in the non pro classes is what pays the bills so they can put on the races. The water isn't free or the ambulance's or insurance or track rental or trace equipment etc etc. Not a very auspicious start to your vital posting career.Blush

Yes, if it comes from the promoter. Contingency is somewhat of a loophole.

Im just trying to get a general discussion I’m not saying racers are getting screwed or bashing promoters I’m just spit balling a idea. You could look at the couple of major amateur races as a minor league instead of a purely amateur event. I mean if you qualify for any respective class at Lorettas you are at the top of your class in the country. I look at the pay back scale as a kickback to the riders but not someway to make a living off. You could tweak the pay scale towards favor of promoters I mean if top 10 could atleast earn the entry fee back and top 3 earn a little more it could be a good thing.It’s not like we are stick and ball sport where a school provides your way to the top.It all come out of our own pockets. What are the negatives y’all think would come from payouts?

Like it was said, you go from amatuer to pro when you make money, Another thought is if you insurance company gets wind of money being transfered, you are required to pay for a different type policy
