Hi guys, I am thinking of getting an aluminum tank for my YZ 250. I know a professional welder who can make me one for 350 bucks. I really like the fact that it is hermetic (especially since I store the bike inside my house). So, my question is, can you actually bend it by gripping with your legs?
Thanks.

I think that would depend on how it was built.

My nuts made 2 big dents on the top of my Maico aluminum gas tank so it's possible. 👀😜

I say go for it. 350 is a steal for a tank, I would charge a lot more! My X-fun was $560

My guess is it would depend entirely on the gauge of aluminum being used, but if you think about it, most of your tight squeezing is either the seat (where the knee reinforcement goes on a gripper seat) or on the shrouds. I have a YZ250 and that's where my stuff wears thin. Maybe on the tank a tad where it meets the seat, but that is going to be a really strong area. I'd say go for it if you like that look. Especially if you're concerned with fumes leaching indoors.

I have a GMX alloy tank on a KX500 and you would not squash or bend it by squeezing with your legs...

Even without all those locks on the bike I don’t think it’s coming out of there easy.
KX country!

So many break ins and bikes stolen around here it’s ridiculous, takes me 15 mins to get a bike out and I have the keys to the locks and know where all the locks are, I have been broken into so many times it’s almost made me give up and sell everything...
