Steve Rawson brought the Alta up to Mammoth to contest the inaugural 60+ class. He pulled the hole shot in the first moto then they red flagged the race so they lined them back up and he did it again. Great weekend with good friends

As soon as I saw Steve was racing I figured he had to be on the Alta. What a bike to race up there though. No power loss compared to everyone else. Good thinking Steve!

Look pretty fast to me, for 60 year-olds!

The MX and MXR are serious weapons at altitude since they are not effected by the lack of oxygen.

I used some High Altitude Electricity for the altitude and race fuel in the generator. ?work just great ? ran the same as at sea level.

Could of used some for the body.

We had a rider who races an ALTA pull a hole shot as well at our HS. Dead engine starts are a dream for those quiet buzzing things. Smile

On a dusty day in a Scrambles, the start is everything. Just holeshot and drag your feet Evil

They may have to go to live engine starts..

shocking. this is so surprising that an electric motor that does not rely on air and fuel to make power holeshots on an uphill start at high elevation or that it can be turned on and started much faster than anyone on a gas engine bike that requires it be turned over

this is why it has no place against combustion engines.

Unless you’re racing GNCC/HS I can’t see why this is an issue

Sorry didn't see. That's still pretty good! I guess slower woods riding at 1:20 is equivalent to a moto of battery usage?

That slippery slope has gotten us where we are talking about qualifying times and ride groups. I can see it now, DC and LL will have 6 e-bike classes added next year. A/B/C Pro/Vet 25/Vet30/Vet/40. Stop the madness. It's not fair!

We had a guy in TX win a Scrambles on one, finished at 1:19 and was out of e-juice. This seems to be the limit for that type of usage.

No, the lack of oxygen presents no loss of power, however temp is a huge factor. You lose 20 degrees, you lose .01V per cell, and well, that adds up in a pack of that voltage.

Now, pre-warming of the cells via a hard charge, or even a hair dryer, will get the voltage back up, but the main point here is output voltage is greatly affected by temp, with the colder it is, the lower the output voltage.

and Heat. it was 90* ++ last Saturday and it affected his ride again.

they (ALTA) have done some nice work but there is a long road to go.

I started racing on a 1975 Kx 125, today the bikes are so much better.

same thing will happen with electrics. and at a faster pace.

HAHAHAHAHAHA I didn't see this post. Well I don't know about "cheater" but sure are able to hide the fact that when you don't finish a race, I am no where to be found.

that trailer ride of shame will be posted one day!
