Never thought I'd see the day, but very happy about it. Doesn't seem like a total redesign but motor updates, new carb, new brakes, suspension updated along with the plastic. That's pretty sweet. Can't complain. I thought for sure they'd use the 250F swingarm, but not a big deal.

It's not but you can think that if you want to. It's not a ground up redesign but it's still updated, which is better than BNG or no model at all.

I need that bodywork for my YZ. The only Japanese brand that still builds two strokes. Kudos to them.

Vital two weeks ago:
"YZ125 is still ok... but needs engine updates, new ergos, and brakes. Then it will be sweet."

Vital today:
"YZ125 only got engine updates, new ergos, and brakes? Lame."

Leave it to the guy riding an '85 in his avi pic to complain about it being a warmed over '05 model. It's not for you then, we get it. But the rest of us are happy.

(not that there is anything wrong with riding an '80s bike)

These updates are awesome! The 125 chassis is fine. This is just what the doctor ordered.

Kind of wish I waited to buy my son a new YZ 85 instead of a used tc 85.

So let me get this straight , you finally get Yamaha to update the 125 and you whine and bitch ?
Lame.
Kudos to Yamaha for not bnging the shit out of us again.
Plus you know what that means?
The 250 is bound to see updates soon too.
I’m gonna buy one just to promote them for putting in work.
Plus the chassis is so sweet even for me at 200lbs it’s the most fun bike I’ve ridden.

Leave it to MXA to develop the stupidest way to chart power I've ever seen. What a mess to read lol.

Fuel tank went from 2 gallon to 1.8. That kind of stinks for off-roaders. It would be really cool if they added e start and a bigger tank to the X models next year when I assume most of these updates will transfer.

Great to see a Japanese company finally realize 2 strokes still have a huge market that is thirsty for advancement.

I’m sure they’ll produce about 50 of them worldwide and come with a $1500 dealer mark up. Gotta love Covid. What about the 450??

EDIT
An updated rear hub? That’s it? Are you kidding me??

I work at a dealership and just got the info from Yamaha europe, the YZ125 2022 engine is a lot more modified than people seem to think:

Following parts are new:

Cylinder / head / piston / powervalve / conrod / intake / gearbox 5th and 6th / clutch / vforce 4 reed / exhaust and muffler
