Just watched a bunch of the interviews from Hangtown. I was wondering if there is a rule against speaking in 1st person or if it is now required to refer to yourself in 3rd person at all time? We couldn't help but notices while we were watching the interviews that most of these guys have a hangup referring to themselves as "we" all the time. Drives me nuts!

When they say we got tired, or we got arm pump......I don't think the whole team was "feeling" that.

We need an old school Bob Hannah type again. "I" am going to break his leg in the next moto, or "I" rode like a girl.

At 18...and after putting out the kind of effort that two motos require.

saying "we" doesnt make it 3rd person.

It would be 3rd person if Eli was on the podium saying "Yea, Eli had a great race, he did really good"

Exactly...like the "Jimmy" episode on Seinfeld . I think they should all do that from now on.

I believe an IQ Test should be a requirement before registering on this board, but hey you can't have everything you want.

Funny thread. I do agree that saying "we" is giving good credit to the team in it's simplest form. Even saying "we" could potentially shave several seconds off of a podium speech!

Speaking of podium speeches.. I think Weston is a cool cat and no doubt he has nerves in front of the camera. But every time the camera is on him he talks like he just railed a few lines of blow. For a brawny guy like himself, it throws me off every time.

Not to get all Queen's English technical here, but "we" is 1st person plural.

What drives me nuts is rattling off this sponsor list. Some do it alphabetically.

Only 80 and above allowed. The problem is the forum would lose 50% of the members and 95% of those that post daily.

I hate when riders say "I cant thank (insert person/company)." You cant thank them?? or you cant thank them enough???

It seems like a lot of riders say this now.

These guys are paid to ride a motorcycle, not be grammatically correct at all times. They're young, typically don't go through your normal schooling, just gave everything they have physically and mentally for 30+ 2, and then have a live camera shoved in their face. Cut them a break

I believe their intention is to say "I can't thank (whoever, sponsors and so and so) enough."

By the time most of them get through their sponsor list they forget to throw the "enough" on the end.

I feel like they all do a fine job speaking for young men in their situation.

Would it drive you nuts if they did it all alphabetically except swapped the last two sponsors? That would make me want to crawl through the television. Lol.

Aren't you yourself speaking in 3rd person in your OP? Not very hard to do now is it?

I probably wouldn't notice. They should just make sure their bikes are parked nearby so they can read them off like NASCAR drivers.

"Yeah, no, yeah" kinda bugs me because I'm confused if they are answering the question yeah or no, but I find it hard to give success tips to people rocking out at life more than me (most of us actually).

I know for a fact I'd look like an idiot on world wide TV, probably for something I don't even know I do, because nobody cares. Grammar is a little off but whips are fresh though! They touch the lives of more people on a Saturday than most will in their entire lives, give them a break. lol
