Alexandr Tonkov

Many rumors circulating about this guy right. Apparently, he used false passport and he is now stucked in Russia. That means no GP next year and the team broked his contract.

If he really used a Fake ID and is stuck in Russia he's stuck for multiple years and if that is the case his career is over

He is Russian.
My bad i had a feeling he was, but shouldve looked it up before saying anything. So if its true amd he left the country without proper papers, what kind of trouble would he be in if he did in fact leave the country with a fake passport? I know Russia does things differently, but with other people saying that his career can be done it seems real serious.

I think the problem is that if you work outside of russia you have to be in russia every year for a certain amount of time to renew your travel/working visa and if i'm correctly informed Alexander did not go back home for 3 years or something

I heard 4 because of his 3 year absence + 1 year as a fine. Either way 2 or 4 his career is over who's going to pick him up after that time

I have heard some stuff about he have to stay a moment in Russia, but at least he cameback once last year in St Petersburg to shoot this video for his first ride on the Yamaha (so he was in Russia)

It's not the first time that the Russian racers have issues to entering Europe to race. Vseva Brylyakov was supposed to race the British championship and the GP series this year, but finally he was not allowed to race the British because of the papers, he missed Matterley GP as well!

Some years Tonkov or Bobryshev have missed Matterley GP because of that too...

For professional athletes these people sure do suck at it... Davalos, Wilson, Brykalov and now Tonkov. It really cant be that hard surely.

Russian riders have had a really hard time getting in and out of Europe since tensions developed with the West. I believe a number of Russian riders tried to get hold of Bulgarian passports and this sounds like that play may have backfired for Tonkov. Such an unnecessary situation. Listening to Hillary trying to talk tough on Russia, I doubt the situation will get any better.
