My buddy and I laughed at this for a while, rewound it a couple times. If you saw the race Saturday then you probably saw this. Sorry for the shitty quality, well kind of sorry, okay not really sorry.

After several tries to pass Cade Clason and the checkered flag Alex Ray goes to give Clason a high five and tips over on his bike.

I'd never heard of the guy but I thought it was cool of him to try and high five the dude who got the last transfer spot. He tried hard to beat Clason, didn't get it. Better luck next time. So what if he fell over. I'll root for Ray in the future because of how he handled it.

Ray thought he saw Hanny.... it was the last lap of an LCQ outside of a transfer position.

Funny stuff, you would have to like a kid that throws his arms back while laying on the ground saying to himself "what the %*@! did I just do"

I thought it was great. He was probably pretty tired, though, as that was his 3rd race of the night!

He is a local guy from the Memphis area. We were at Atlanta watching him closely from the stands.
Kid gave it 100%. It is so stinking tough to make the top 22.

It was awesome, and he owned it like a boss! I like him.

There was some good racing on that track despite the epic split lane fail. If I remember right Clason had a pretty hard crash in practice. It was nice to see him bounce back.

Pure underdog right there! I felt so sorry for the guy when it happened because I knew, just knew, that people would be making fun of him later.

I, too, liked that he didn't take it seriously and just dealt with it and made it funny.

Good luck in the future, Alex Ray!

Last week at my hockey game I came out of the locker room, scooted towards the open gate on the bench and launched myself on to the ice like I've done for 30+ years of my life. Only this time I forgot to take my skate guards off. Hey, it happens.

Ray had several opportunities to clean out Clason over the last 2 laps but he kept it pretty clean. I was waiting for a banzai move on the last lap but he didn't go for it.

A.Ray has come so close this year to making the main event....This was as close as he's gotten thus far. He's a great kid with a great family behind him. It shouldn't be long before he makes it. Pulling for our local riders every week.Keep an eye on A.Ray and Brice Klipple two of our best.

I looped my bike out crossing the finish line trying to wheelie across when I won my first race on a 125 back in the day.

I can feel his pain. At least I didn't have 50K people watching me. I still stood up and took a bow though. Might as well own your mistakes and have fun with them.

Good stuff, that's what it's all about. Giving it your all, having fun, and the added bonus of being able to laugh at yourself when need be.

Definitely a lot of awesome racing on Saturday including these two, and it's always good to see good sportsmanship like this in my opinion. Ray tried hard which gave me and my buddy a reason to make some noise. Hopefully we are all lucky enough to see racing like this next weekend.
