Ken showed everyone that the bike can tend to be very overrated as far as rider performance last week at Hangtown
But why build them?

Maybe it's placebo effect, the riders just think they're getting something special, sort of like the brand vs generic debate.

That may be why they want the tracks smoother, no need for works suspension when you can just smooth the tracks out.

I'd be surprised if MA can hang with AC anyway, no matter what bike he's on. About as surprised as I'd be if he had the same equipment.

20lb weight advantage we often hear about is far from insignificant though. On a 450 just dropping some weight in tire, tube and sprocket feels like a different bike.

Any american that dreams of winning this thing will fold up like a bed sheet at about the 38 minute mark and still have another seven minutes or so to go. It is 40 minutes plus two laps dreamers.

It`s 35mins plus 2 laps but usually runs 40 minutes total with 2 minutes lap times. Anyway I was going to hit on that but you beat me to it, the extra 5 minutes can be a eternity if you are floundering, and The US riders are not use to the strategy of a longer race and we could be in for a lot of dashed hopes due to the extra time. Ken touched on that in his Hangtown interview about US riders riding flat out the whole race ,

Looking at the track and the equipment, would it surprise anyone if Nagl was the O/A at the end of the day??
It wouldn't surprise me to be honest.

I get tired just watching the GPs. I think the extra time will matter.
