49 and although laid up right now I plan to get back on. Just like everyone else I am beaten and battered but activity is what keeps you young. I BMX, skate, wakeboard, snowboard, surf, MTB and do a little cardio when I can. I have seen too many people “wait” to do things only to never get the chance. You only got one shot at this. Born and bred to rip and shred!!!! Keep on keeping on you old farts!

I doubt you’re the type that is ok with the thought of going face down in the mashed potatoes. Keep up the good work.

Not sure if this has happened to you other over 50 guys but,I've noticed as I get older I ride just as fast as I always have! But for some weird reason,my bikes dont go as fast or jump as far as they did in my younger days!!?? Hmmm,weird......

Man I forgot about wake boarding......I sure miss that......My knees won't allow any more than simple jumps wake to wake....and not for very long... you must still have decent knees....

Well, I'm a little out of the age group you were looking for; I'll "only" be 47 in two weeks. However, I've always felt that there is no age that is "too old" for anything. Yeah, you may be too weak or too scared to do something, and those are good signs that you are advancing in age, but if it feels good, do it!
I still ride, cycle, swim, etc. I'm married so I don't hit up the younger women, but there are a few out there that I bet I could land. (Old guy rose-colored glasses?)
Anyway, if you hurt too much to keep on acting like you're 24 then tone it down. If not, rail ruts and nail sluts, as the moto bro saying goes.

Yal are some bad ass older dudes. At 21, I’m sure I’ll feel the same way 20-30+ years from now. Hope it doesn’t go by too quick! Grinning

I was thinking I would quit moto when I was no longer competitive in the +50 class and then Spring Creek added a +55 and +60 class, turning 60 this summer and still racing at every Spring Creek (Millville) event. There is talk of adding +65 class now.

59th birthday party last June

Glad to see you still riding Jerry, I used to follow you around the track now and then. I don’t race anymore but ride regularly. 60 this June as well.

The "keep moving/stay active" montra is number 1 for being able to live to a ripe old age (discounting bad luck or genetics). Use the wisdom that comes from age/experience (unless you're a total dumbass) to make life enjoyable and reduce the aggrevations. Smacking every jackass in the pie hole is a sure way to find that one dude that turns you inside out and feeds you your own nuts. I'm not talking about an embarrassing ass whoopin'....I mean off work, emergency room, you look different now, shit stompin'. Been there. As far as dirt bike racing....it may be blasphemy to say this on a moto site but I just couldn't make my old broke down carcass competitive after 50. I discovered harescrambles. Still not fast enough to win an overall but pretty competitive in my age bracket. There ya go.

Seriously though, keep doing what you're doing. My utmost respect for staying young inside, as the years pass.
It would be awesome if I could ride moto with my Dad, who's barely over 50.
Too bad he never had enough common sense to ride a motorcycle without nearly killing himself every time he got close to one. But hey, at least he realised that so I can talk with him about bikes and cars all day long!

Once again, huge respect for all you Vets!

58 bad knees, elbow, bone on bone L3 L4, compression fraction L1 plate 8 screws in left collarbone. and now some new hardware in my heart. Valentines Day got short on breath had stint put in my Lad 99 percent blocked didn't even know it. very lucky to be here. Cardiac Docs says off the bike for a year so lots of time to rehab. Been riding since I was 12 other than this setback don't have any plans on quitting!!!! Nothing gives me the same kind of feeling like riding with my kids and soon my Grandson. Pictures of me and my 18 an 16 yr olds are from December

Seems there are a few of us old guys still riding moto, I'm 58, artificial knees & hip, no tendons holding my shoulders in, damaged spine (C4 & C5), I ride my CR500 all the time, my Girlfriend is 20 years younger than me, the one before that was 25 years younger, the one before that was 29 years younger.

Losing hair & teeth but not my desire to moto.
Winner winner chicken dinner.

We know its the moto that keeps you young and not the chicks!

At 49 I started fasting all day. I eat one big meal a day of keto, paleo style food. Im now down to my same weight I was in high school. Moobs and backfat are gone. My old injuries feel better than ever. Stuff that would never heal is now healing. Push ups, crunches, and sprints whenever I get a chance. I think fasting is key when you are old.

I can do without the injuries but you Sir have it going on. Bikes are important, but those years beat Viagra. Congrats from Al Bundy but I don’t sell shoes.

Around Labor Day 2017 I had just turned 65. so to celebrate, I went to practice.

Second session I felt good, came out of a sandy r/h corner, over this hump, rolling along decent...

Lined up the whoops and said "I got this" as I upshifted...made it to where the red line ends and broke three ribs.

Riding again by Thanksgiving. No reason to quit...ever.

I realize now that the best part of being older and still active is that we mostly all got to ride and race in the 70's....80's.....and 90's......as far as i'm concerned the best years for motocross racing.

You could be absolutely broke in those era's and still ride and race........I know because I did it. No way your doing it that way today. Plus there were multiple options to race on the weekends and there were places to ride everywhere. Now if you fire your dirt bike up, the cops are coming to get you asap...

As a Cancer survivor, I will warn you to stay away from anything that boosts Testosterone, especially after 50 years old. It is well documented to host Prostate cancer. I have Stage 3 Prostate and Bladder cancer. I'm balanced out right now, so I'm hanging in there. Lots of complications. I was severely warned to NOT touch anything that boosts the big T. It's a death sentence for me. They typed my Cancer, and found the big T is the primary host for my type. There are over 350 types of Prostate cancer. Most of them are hosted, either primary or secondary, buy the big T. Sold my last bike a year ago after crashing my RM500AF in practice, second time in a week. Just can stand the internal pain. And I worked out with the VA PA trainers for a year before I got back on the bike. Take away, listen to your body, and get regular check ups including blood work up. I had NO symptoms, no warning signs, no pain. Went from hero to zero in one surgery. I've had 5surgeries, and it's looking like a 6th is in the future. My shrink says sometimes you have to just be a man and accept where you are. Only you know what your body is capable of. I'm a couple of months from my 60th B-day, by the way. Had my diagnosis at 52. Yep, it stole a big part of my life. So now I'm building an autocrosser. With age comes a cage. Even in pain, it's hard to sit still. I'm a poor spectator, always have been. Good luck on your life's journey.

I’m just eating a light lunch and dinner now. What are you doing when you fasting? Just water or more than that?

I'm only 34, but had to say I have a huge amount of respect for you guys still "sending it".

Also, if you guys don't mind me asking. How many of you guys still ride and/or prefer 2strokes? Why or why not?

For me I grew up on 2strokes. Got the 4t bug in 99 like thousands of other. New 426 in 00-01 then out of the game until a month ago. My reason was twofold.... 1 never owned a Suzuki and 2 everyone has a 4t. I understand why; they're easy ,injected and loaded with power. Makes sense right? I chose to zig while my friends zag. Happened onto my RM250 the exact Sunday after the Houston SX, and after I mentioned to my gal that I want an 06 RM250. 10 minutes from my house! I knew the minute I saw it that I was taking it home. I can wrench on it with a bit of confidence whilst unlike a 4t would be a bit beyond my mechanical skill.

Wow, a lot of you dudes are old as fuck! Just turned 55 and bought a pair of entry level Fat Bikes for my wife and I. Still snow on the ground here in Winnipeg but the weather is breaking up a little. Do a lot of mountain biking these days, still have my dirt bike (2016 YZF 250-the perfect vet bike imho), and try to ride as often as I can in the summer months. Haven't raced much the last few years and miss it but not enough to spend 12 hours at the track, spend 200.00, and get a 1/2 hour of track time riding 2 classes. Do a mixture of weight training, circuit training, and of course cycling. The Fat Bikes will keep us going year round now, so great investment for continued fitness and outdoor activity.

Bottom line boys and girls, move or die. Hard as shit to keep the weight off and the fitness up once you pass the 50 mark. It is still possible to get to a really high level of fitness that allows you to do most anything at a decent pace, but we ain't 20 any more and there is a reality to this. Just remember the quote, "Do not regret getting older, it is a privilege denied to many."

To those in this thread that have lost children to illness, my sincere condolences-I cannot imagine the difficulty of having to go through this. It is cool to see the high level of overall activity everyone here seems to maintain and riding dirt bikes is a bit of a magic elixir for sure. My daughter asked me why I still ride, and I told her that has soon as I slip my helmet on, my age disappears, and once the bike comes to life I go back to my teens again. Everything else just goes away and I just focus on riding. When my riding is done for the day, only then do a realize that I hadn't thought about anything else the entire time I was at the track riding and shooting the shit with the boys (old guys), who are there for the same reason.

60 is the new 30....and young hotties can't get enough of "middle" aged white guys.... Sounds like you're pretty much on the money attitude wise, think young, be young. But you've gotta respect the aging process. What works for me: Eat Clean! This can't be stressed enough, your ability to recover from workouts/riding/etc. and maintain muscle are YUUUUUGELY, BIGLY, effected by your diet.Cut out the crap (grains, sugars, processed foods) and stick with fresh fruit/veggies/meats. Game changer for myself and everyone else I know who's done it. Also crucial, make your workouts short and intense, and dial back on the LSD (long, slow, distance) You need more recovery/rest between workouts than the youngins. I workout only 3 times a week by joggin easy for 3 miles while stoppin every 2 blocks for body-weight exercises, then do sprints twice a week after a warm-up. Feel/look better than I have in years..... but still slower than hell on the track Smile ... Oh, I'm 56 yo

Now that I'm over trying to be a hero, I only ride two strokes mostly because I've spent 20 years racing them. But I am faster on a 4 stroke after the 2nd lap. Smile I prefer a 2 stroke because it is a lot more fun for me to ride.

Well that wasn't an easy read but very informative.......does cancer run in your family?? The males on my side seem to drop over dead around 60 from heart attacks.....my dad died suddenly at 57....

Here's wishing you many more quality years on this planet man.......Good luck to you.
