Just heard the Main Event Show where DB was talking to Cooksey who said he asked Eli at MEC if he had a response to Joeys allegations and he said he would have paid him but it was against the law. Check out the Main Event show for the whole conversation.

What were Joey's allegations?
Someone in Eli's camp promised Eli was going to cut him a check for letting him by at the Monster Cup but then they recanted a couple days later.

Possible he meant that given the circumstances it could look like collusion to win the money and split it vs only winning 100k. Might result in a lawsuit with either Feld or the insurance company (thought I heard Feld didn't have the insurance for the 2018 race)

I call BS and no one even had to know of any transaction.
Hell, Savatgy coulda "sold" ET3 a hat for $20K and that'd be a legal transaction

The easiest thing would have been for Kawi to give JS a small performance bonus and taken the weight off of Eli. They got plenty of press out of the whole thing.

Just listened. I'm actually with Eli on this. He stammered cause he's Eli. I would bet his family lawyer told him not to and he just isn't willing to risk it. People are different and this is just the result of Eli's personality. Lawyers said, story over for Eli.

They didn't have the insurance, but they had to give out 2 million because that one kid won too. I doubt that.

Neither got $1MM cash/check

It was an annuity, over I think 10-20 years

I had heard a rumor the spectator who won had gone out next day, rented some exotic car in Las Vegas, and wrecked it
Not sure if true, you know the interwebz can be

Is it against the law to fix a game of poker in a casino and then pay the person for helping? Im no lawyer but that sounds illegal.

Buy a Rolex and USPS it to his house. Drop off a briefcase with 25K in it. Send him and his wife to Hawaii. Open a tuition investment account for his newborn baby. There are literally a thousand ways that this could have been made right. The legal claim, while it may be technically applicable, is still completely laughable to me. What's right will always be right.

This! Nothing in the law says ol' Eli can't buy his mate Joey a nice new truck!

That would covered under gaming laws...but there isn't any law preventing Eli from giving Joey money or anybody else for that matter...as JT said above there's thousands of ways to take care of Joey...but Eli chose to do nothing...and that is the bottom line.

Did RV pay you for throwing yourself in front of JS7 to get landed on at Houston 2011? Laughing Of course I'm joking here!

I do agree that Tomac could have found a way to compensate Joey, if he really wanted to. I think in his heart of hearts he firmly believes he would have passed him anyway, hence his reluctance to pay anything.

The best part of the conversation was Eli telling Cooksey he thanked him by giving him a thumbs up.

I totally gave you thumbs up for that, since it's what we do at Vital.

Its just professional courtesy. Wasnt required, but something that could have made ET look good from a PR standpoint. Paying it forward is a good thing.

"Team mate race fixin' "........why the hell wouldn't you? In fact you would be an idiot to not take advantage of it. Bought Eli a nice cabin in the woods and gave Joey a nice going away present. Duh ! Now prove it.
