Bikes are pretty refined these days. Why is it that manufacturers don't know how to build an exhaust? I see lots of ads and bikes with pipes that cost from 400 to we'll over 1000 dollars. I could see in 1974 the CR125 may have needed a up pipe, but a bike over 9k shouldn't need a new pipe. Or do people have too much money and they need to spend it before the government gets it?
Honestly, on the newer bikes, you don't need an aftermarket exhaust, unless you're changing a different power delivery or your bike to look cooler.
You dont need a pipe. Nobody is going any faster on a 450 with an aftermarket pipe vs a stock pipe.

I think the stock pipe is fine for 90-95% of the "dirt bike riding population." We need to remember that a MAJORITY of the riders don't "need" a pipe & the stock pipe is fine for what they are doing.
It's all about $$$. They add a pipe & now it adds a grand to MSRP.
Hell I went back to the stock tc250 silencer because my pants dyno said it worked better with the PC pipe
The government will find a way to take your money regardless of how many pipes you buy, but yes pipes on 450s are like spinners on a 2004 Cadillac Escalade...it’s just what you do bro
Any other questions m8??
I have just an FMF 4.1 slip on on my 17 RMZ450 and it definitely helped out with a little more on the bottom. The stock one is good, especially for guys that like a very easy feeling 450, but I wanted a little more down low like my Yamaha had. The slip on definitely helped with that! Plus, I now have a spark arrestor so I can ride off-road and at a local track that is owned by the state.
controls and foot pegs along with adding the proper spring rates is far more important.
