Sadly Adrian "Adey" Mahoney passed away peacefully at home at 3.20 am GMT.
Adey was paralysed in a motocross accident in 1988 but his love for the sport never diminished and could often be found trackside at GP's and VMXDN with his camper, awning, family and care workers.
His biggest hero was Ricky Johnson and Adey finally got to meet his hero at the VMXDN at Farleigh Castle earlier this month. Ricky and Stephanie Johnson came over to meet Adey, spent almost an hour chatting and on the Legends Parade lap, RJ pulled over and presented Adey with a signed raceshirt.
Over the years many top riders presented Adey with race shirts, clothing etc and he told me his collection will be auctioned off for Wings for Life charity.
Godspeed Adey, a true inspiration to all of us.
