That tunnel jump was so awesome. Especially the first time I saw him hit it. Never even knew it was possible until then.

this is the old Hangtown race in Plymouth Ca, south of where its held now at the Prarie city Ohv park. Im too young to have been there but my dad tells me how it was quite sandy, which is much different than most of Cali's clay based tracks.

A few years back I remember talking to Dave Coupe, he had visited the site to try to get a one off race going out there but it never materialized due to the current owner
Plymouth was the baddest track around. MXA once listed it as one of the 5 best tracks of all time and Prairie City as one of the 5 worst.

My first post...

Elsworth MX, U.K... This place was heaven, closed 3-4 years ago to be turned into a fishing lake, nothing yet, still left as it was on the last day riding there, track was there since the 70's I believe...

Not abandoned anymore, as you all know... but this is what Maggiora looked like in 2008:

I don't know the whole story, but I was at the last GP in Maggiora in 1999 and then they quit.
Rumors has it was all about noise and dust. Mainly dust covering the small town which is located right behind the track, on top of the hill. But maybe there's something else I don't know.
Someone tried to put the track back to work somewhere around 2003, I think they run a couple local races only on part of the track and then the place was abandoned for the same old reasons, citizens were mad about the track.
I don't have pictures of the track as it was before 2003, but it was in worse conditions than on these images I posted.
Then two young guys put a new project together in 2012, they resumed the track (which is almost the same as the old one), built a restaurant (where that small house were, up on the hill), some sort of a bike park, an area for live events and an e-park where you can rent KTM electric mx and enduro bikes (you ride only part of the whole track).
First GP was held in 2013, those two guys still run the track and since then alot of races and various events were organized, they're doing a great job.

I have no pictures but anyone that lives in Kent, England may have seen or ridden the track that was just past the Sittingborne junction on the M2. You can still see the table top with the tunnel underneath it. Just been left as it was the last time it was used. Not sure when the last time it was used but I rode it in the late 90's, stoney as hell.
I always look across at that place whenever I drive past, shame it got closed down for noise, that chalk surface was pretty unforgiving!
Closed down for noise? It's right next to the motorway, the councils are a joke. Dust going across the carriageway probably didn't help either lol. You...

I was riding at the sittingbourne track in the early '00s. 2001 & 2002 definitely, maybe in 2003 as well. Who was it who doubled from that tunnel jump over on to the next table top? Nicky Hopcraft? Maybe Lee Hopcraft? There were a couple who did it, Mark Eastwood as well I think- double page spread of him in the air in the T&MX news.

Had some awesome rides up there. Chris Scurfield was the guy who owned/ran it.

I also rode at and remember Jewels Hill & Stone Lodge. I remember Stone Lodge had to have the jumps built and flattened the same day as the meeting, because of illegal riding there. I don't miss Stone Lodge, still got the scar on my knuckles!

Camp Coker was the first track I ever raced at, and my first time on a "sand" track. Needless to say, it did not go awesome. Laughing

Track grew on me over the years, and I hate that I didn't get to race there more than I did. I believe Hank Moree's family might have owned the track. Moree was once a top amateur(team green?) and rival of Damon Bradshaw.

A group of us would always sneak off to Larry Wards SX track on the property and ride bmx bikes once our motos were over. Also remember watching some epic battles between Ward and local pros like Jim Neese over the years. One off-season Ward showed up on what looked to be a fully prepped Honda of Troy bike and several of us were drooling all over it. I could go on and on about that place. Good times.
It was definitely awesome in its heyday. When we showed up to layout the GNCC course there, I was so pumped to get on the Moto track. Everything is still the same, just a little worn down.

The Moree Family still owns the place and after the GNCC this past year, Hank went out and bought a bike again. He mentioned wanting to try to race it when we go back next year. The woods and grass track sections we laid out were a blast too. Easily became one of my top 3 favorite GNCC tracks in its first year.

Crick, not used for around 15 years....

I raced at Crick with Rugby AMCA club in may 2012.

Looks like someone took some footage here (although not when I raced):

The real crick was awesome. There is some footage here from 1994. Mainly featuring a mate of mine....I end up on the floor.

Went to Dodford today, well what's left of it, the Flore and Weedon bypass is being built across it, barbed wire stopped me getting any closer than these shots....

I saw this on another site, look how high the dirt was, in later pics the dirts about 4 feet below the fence.

I have no idea who doubled the table top. I quit after the 99 season & didn't really follow the sport for 10 years. Stone Lodge was ok but hard pack like all the tracks in that area, I heard it closed because the insurance company wanted over a million pounds for the year. Joyce Green has gone now too.

These are cool pictures... And I guess we can now all agree that riding dirt bikes is NOT bad for the environment either! Mother Nature erases decades of man-made stuff pretty quickly.

Vintageaerial.com is a cool website for old pics. I know High Point isn't abandoned, but here's a shot from 1988.

I first rode at Crick in 1976, in the field next to the one you posted pictures of, then on that track in 1997, befor ethey screwed it up with the digger.

The other Crick track, and the most famous one, is now under DIRFT which is a rail freight terminal, so its all gone,

I heard the new track is 'uninspiring' .. my grandparents lived in the village for many years.

This was never a National caliber track and mainly Texas locals rode/raced there, but it was originally designed by Dirt Wurx and had a big MX track, GP track, night track and a beginner/kid track. (also lots of trails for scrambles) Andrew Short practiced there on occasion as his inlaws lived right near there.

RIP Cross Creek MX
