MURRIETA, Calif. – The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team is pleased to announce the signing of fan favorite Aaron Plessinger to race aboard the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION in the AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross Championships. Upon inking a two-year deal, Plessinger will remain with the team through the 2023 season with his much-anticipated debut taking place at the Anaheim SX opener on Saturday, January 8 in Anaheim, California.

Plessinger enjoyed a successful run in the 250 cc division, including a 250MX Championship in 2018 and countless race-wins in both series. Since moving into the premier 450 cc division in 2019, the 25-year-old has slated numerous top-10 finishes, along with one career top-five, and he is READY TO RACE onto the podium with an all-new program behind him in 2022.

Training with world-renown SX/MX trainer Aldon Baker at the elite Baker’s Factory compound in Florida, Plessinger will also work alongside mechanic Jade Dungey, who re-joins the Red Bull KTM squad for his first season together with AP.

Aaron Plessinger: “I’m really excited for the opportunity to join Red Bull KTM and work alongside everyone associated with the factory team effort. To be honest, I’m pretty excited to bring a new vibe to the team. I rode KTMs a lot as a kid, so I’m looking forward to getting back to my roots and having some fun but this time on the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. Getting to train at Baker’s Factory with Aldon Baker, who has helped shape the careers of many champions over the years, is an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up. Hopefully I can push my fitness to new limits and better hone in my racing techniques by training alongside all the other top riders there.”

Ian Harrison – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: “Aaron’s depth of talent has been on our radar for years but he has really come into his own more recently and lucky for us, during a time when we were in a position to bring him on-board for 2022. We were excited that during contract negotiations, he expressed interest in being a part of the full training program – a program we have worked very hard on for many years – and felt he would really benefit from it at this stage in his career. The gains he has already made not just on the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, but also meshing with the team and his mechanic, Jade Dungey, should keep the crew smiling, and on their toes, year-round. Aaron is a real character and a welcomed addition to our 2022 rider lineup.”

Cool intro vid. I appreciate KTM going out of their way to make it seem like they are ok w/ letting AP be himself and embrace that. I was actually wondering how that was going to go and I guess I have my answer. I wish him the best. AP is awesome.

Still doesn’t make up for the KR557 bullshit in my opinion, but that was pretty cool

Intro was spot on, was hoping for something with a little enthusiasm in it but I didn't expect Roger to be the comedic relief. Like Mossy, I'm still a little salty from the KR fiasco, but maybe they learned something from it.

I'm curious to see if Aldon see's this as an opportunity to tune his program in a different manner since he's got several guys with some personality now - Aaron, Malcom, Deano ( we think ) .. all of those seem to be high energy, good vibe kind of guys. I could see him getting an energy boost from this as well, but that remains to be seen.

I assume Marv is still going to be on the program and I wonder if he'll benefit? I know he and Webb were a little bit oil & water near the end when it came to training together.

I won’t go that far. But Maybe 2022 champ. Webb will be tough. Tomac questionable? That French Yamaha guy…Ferrandis..should he remain healthy. However congrats to Plessinger. Time to win. Window of opportunity is small. That Deegan kid will be eyeing the 450 in three years. 👍

Damn he looks big on that bike!

Thankfully they embraced his fun personality now. If he isn’t winning, I can’t seem them being to happy with him acting the same way since everyone of their riders gets threatened with the chopping block at lackluster results.

I’m not saying this was a bad move, I see it more as a sideways move, but if he isn’t winning or up front straight away… I can see the pressure of needing results take away from his happy-go-lucky public persona and we get a “need to be better” attitude from AP like we get from every other RB KTM rider that isn’t ton the top step.

Marv is gone. He's now being trained by DV alongside Ferrandis and Colt Nichols.

Per the renthal reaction pod with Matthes and Weege:

Marv to train with DV12 , along with Colt Nichols and of course DF14.

Congrats to DV for expanding his program and best of luck with his new recruits.

I think Coop and AP will complement each other. AP is a beast in the whoops, Coop is…what he is. Coop has an uncanny ability to stay low in corners, something AP could learn from.

When AP is healthy and comfortable......and on the right track. He should be a consistent podium possibility.

I hope the best for AP on the KTM! If he ever decides to dabble in off-road, they certainly have the bikes for it too
