Would be a good opportunity for him, but no, I can't see that happening.

I'd expect we'll see him test the waters first and ride a 450 in some kind of off season race (as Webb, JMart and Craig all have) like Monster Cup before they just decide to move him on up.

Matthes says he's probably moving up after this year. He's tall, fast, and good friends with Webb; only makes sense for him to go there.

I dont see him being good enough to ride 450s. Webb stomped him and webb is struggling in the big class. Ap is from my area so i hope he gets a 450 ride on a good team but i just dont see it

Yamaha already has a top 10 rider. What they need is a superstar.

Your logic is flawed.

Remember when Alessi smoked RV on little bikes? How did that work out for him? What about AC and Webb?

Call me crazy but i could see AP and J Mart being better on 450s because I see them over-riding 250s more than anyone else trying to get more out of them, that over-riding leads to mistakes on their part.

Isnt that how Barcia rode a 250?

I would think the opposite. Guys who ride smoothly and at, generally, lower rpms seem to fit the 450 better, but...

Its pretty obvious to me just by looking back that you can't really predict any of it with any accurracy. And just because someone does better or worse after moving up, doesn't mean the the bike is the sole reason, or any of the reason.

Thats fair, except i dont see much similarity in style between Barcia and the 2 i mentioned.

From what I saw in the amateurs I think he's a better 450 rider. He's big on the 250, the 450 will suit him just fine since he's spent a lot of time on them.

Someone else pointed out that as tall as he is, he has to keep his muscle mass down in order to maintain the weight that the 250 could pull around. I'd be curious to see what he can do if he was allowed to pile on 20-30lbs of muscle.

Is that a done deal? I heard 250's indoor and maybe 450 outdoor, under Factory Yamaha tent.

I wouldn't be surprised since he's such a tall guy. I got to watch him quite a bit when he was in the A and B class. He absolutely rips on the 450. He'll surprise a lot of people once he moves up where his size compared to the bike isn't a issue.

With only a few wins to speak of in 250's I think he'll have a hard time finding a top tier 450 ride but maybe Cycle Trader or something like that?

hahaha, just what I was thinking. all the guys in here forget most all of these guys have rode a 450 in am days. I told more than a couple people JMart was going to kill it on the 450 because he could ride the wheels off one as an amateur. AP is no different, in fact I'd bet he would be significantly faster on a 450. I hope he gets the chance eventually.

That bike could probably pull 20-30 lbs more... Van Horenbeek had no trouble getting a 250 around at the nations and he's 180lbs +

Those were more of minis to big bikes. Not 250 to 450. And that doesnt work out for everyone. Those guys were 1&2 all the time. Were talking about webb who always won vs ap who is somewhere in the top 10.

AP is my sleeper pick for the next big thing. No one does the whoops like him.

It is so dumb and futile to have to imagine how he would do on a bigger bike. Stupid rules.

If I was running the Yamaha team, I'd give AP the ride.
