It’s taking a long time to find out why they didn’t just look at the frame sticker to confirm it’s the same frame OR are there no frame stickers and somebody just pulled it out of their butts that he didn’t have the same frame OR did the team MUC it off and if so it’s nobody’s fault but their own!

You haven't watched the video yet, have you? That question was answered by Oldenburg two days ago bud.

Here what happened according to the team and Matthes. The team was given new ama inspections stickers for Indy 1. AMA didn’t update there records to the new sticker so when he went to the line for lcq the sticker didn’t match ama records. This normally probably wouldn’t even get caught but the ama was suspicious that the team could do the motor swap that quickly(not sure why happens all the time) so they checked his bike at the gate and the sticker didn’t match. The AMA realized they fucked up and here we are

Here's the AMA's official statement on it, from www.amasupercross.com-- they were trying to do a make-good on a mistake involving Oldenburg. He did not displace Bobby Piazza, who finished fifth. He was simply added because the officials made a mistake and prevented him from riding in the LCQ... The matter was confused by Oldenburg pulling into the unexpectedly empty gate left by Jett Lawrence pulling out at the last minute.

"On Feb. 2, in Indianapolis at Round 5 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, there was a discrepancy between rider #49 Mitchell Oldenburg’s assigned frame tech sticker and the AMA paperwork that accompanied it.

"Per the 2021 AMA Supercross rulebook in Section 4 Race Rules and Procedures:
4.8 Motorcycle Usage
Riders must use the same motorcycle (same mainframe) for qualifying and the main program.

"The rider was removed from the starting gate of the 250SX Last Chance Qualifier.

"However, it was later determined that the rider did have the same mainframe for qualifying and the main program. A decision was made by Race Direction which allowed him to line up as the 23rd 250SX Main Event competitor. For Main Event competition, alternates are not accepted into the race, therefore, no rider was displaced due to this addition.

"The American Motorcyclist Association regrets this error and the subsequent confusion that resulted and reaffirms its commitment to enforce the racing rulebook accurately with transparency and objectivity."

Could have sworn when I read the press release it said “to enforce the racing rulebook accurately with transparency and stupidity”.
LaughingLaughing

Just kidding they handled it the best way they could after screwing up and not allowing Freckle to race the LCQ...

The only one that hurt the least bit was Jett. He would have recieved 1 point for 22 place even though he backed off the gate, instead he got 0 points for 23rd.

As of now, AMA is reporting that Lawrence and Short both got 1 point.

Good, that's what it should have been in the first place. It wasn't like that when I looked early after the race. One point may not seem like much, but if it moves him one place in points it could affect his bonus.

Yes, I agree, and I didn't realize that Lawrence technically was still in the race, he just didn't start it, so he is credited with dead last, but still earned that single point. No one was displaced after all...

Also, Matthes did a "Privateer Island" podcast with Bobby Piazza that's pretty cool--kid loves moto and is willing to travel and sleep in the van just to get the chance. Definitely rounds the whole drama out hearing his voice and take on it all.

Unpopular opinion here...

I think the AMA handled the situation well. It all makes sense now that we know the full details.

Now if they would just give Roczen his 4 points back and issue him his 1st recent formal warning or fine then I'd be alright with them thus far in 2021. That doesn't excuse a litany of f#@k ups over the years though.
