thanks for posting! I was hoping to see footage from the amateur day. Good to see a fairly safe but still challenging SX track. Although that long start straight proved too enticing for that guy who came in WAY too hot

Still makes me scratch my head that those guys in the video are C riders Unsure

Sorry, I dont have any video but........

Great race day, very well run show...about 700 entries, we were there till the end and the last race was about 7pm. Took a bit to get everybody in and parked, but after that it ran like clockwork. They did a track walk, had John Stravinivich (sp?) announcing all day, Safe track, Excellent flagging, top notch medical/EMT's/Ambulance on site. Transponders and Live Timing, Dropping gates when the last kid was taking the checkered, kept it watered, did a mid race prep with the skid steers. A lot of good racing in all the classes, awards to the Top 10 in every class! Yea it was a 14 hour day..but who cares...a whole bunch of Amateurs got to go race in the Stadium!..

That little dude on the 50 is riding pretty good. Amazing what they jump on 50s nowadays.

Why can't they get kids like this for the ktm 50s? I would love to see that.
How was parking accommodations? Did you have to leave someone at your truck/trailer the whole time?

Parking was in the same "secure" pit area the pros use. In fact a lot of the pro rigs were still there and the factory supported kids were pitting under their canopy's (ie: not us)

There was one vehicle entrance and one "people" entrance, both with security the whole time. Pit passes were $10 more than spectator passes so I'm sure that kept people out too.

The pits felt more like a local race...everybody around us kinda got to know each other, I never felt like I had to worry about leaving our pit,....... I don't think there were any issues....felt safer than being at milestone......

Would you like to see what it's like to get 20th out of 21 racers? Here's my link. 35+ Class. I bought the bike (2018 YZ450F) on Friday and raced it on Sunday with about 45 mins of seat time at Pala on Saturday...in the mud. My old bike took a dump the weekend prior at Glen Helen and just wasn't rideable. I wasn't going to miss this event and I was looking to buy a new bike so I pulled the trigger and bought it. If I was on my older bike I feel like my lap times would be about 3-4 seconds better per lap which would put me around 16th-18th place. Awesome event but sitting in line to park for over an hour sucked.

raced the 30+ class and had a blast. It was a long day, and I wish the track was a little more challenging, but I came home safe so its a win. Overall though it was great and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Maybe race a second class just so I wasn't sitting around so much. Finished 9th in my main.

Any reasons why they didn't use the metal grids? Presuming because the lack of practice the Amateur riders have had using them?

That guy on the 50 was pure sending it guy, was hella quick for a 50

You're probably right. I didn't ask anyone, but was a little bummed the metal grid starts were gone. I could see dirt starts being considered safer because it separates people a little more out of the gate also.
