1:03's Only 1 rider, guess who?
1:04's 5 450's, 1 250
1:05's 3 450's, 5 250's

15-20 seconds gap at the end of the race is too much, we need more riders closer together.

At the next race they should make Roczen add 20 pounds to his bike. Maybe that'll tighten things up a bit.

Maybe he should have to double Aldon?

Lap 14 was the last lap (Seely) that a rider had their fastest lap.

A1 wasn't very challenging other than the soft-spots in a few transitions and the cupping of the whoops.

Well, if that track wasn't the end to the argument for easy tracks makes for closer racing then nothing would be.

It was an easy track and there was still separation, but the racing was a country fucking mile better in the 250s.

How hard is it to understand that the only thing that consistently makes close racing is closely matched riders?

Nature of the sport. There is always 2-3 guys that are a lot faster than anyone else. Just how MX is and always has been.....

Yep...

A1 was perfect illustration of that. Easy track and Kenny still won by 13seconds.

But the racing was better in the class where more dudes are capable of ringing the shit out of the bike.

AND I'd rather have watched McElrath and Plessinger have to work their balls off to go fast than watch Kenny use 4000rpm and go just as fast.

What caused that large of a gap was Alessi's crash, the red cross flag came out after Kenny and before Dungey so KR was able to gap them another 4 seconds because he didn't have to roll the triple like everyone else. Of course he was up about 9 secs at the time though....probably took the wind out of everyones sails...

It didn't help that Dungey got a mediocre start and had to battle with a few guys, where as KR was able to get the holeshot and had a clear track for most of the race. That's racing though. Sometimes you have a guy who just has his day and everything works out great for him.

I think it'll tighten up a bit, everyone has a track they like. We'll see if KR can keep his consistency and dominance.

Hmm, perhaps they should have used the pace bike to bring the pack back together?

It depends on your definition of easy. Mr. Ford on the 2t couldn't make it through qualifying without wadding up, Canard too. It is still a track that 99% of the riders in the world have no business on.

Of course... But for them?

And by definition, Ford was probably down 20% power and a similar percent deemed talent, not being on a team... BUT.... They're all freaks!

The advent of four strokes has seen this tidal wave of dudes who are all "so" good, but the racing hasn't been any better....

We still have runaways. Dungey had a lead of 25 points before 1/3 of the season last year right? Easy tracks. Short tracks. Long tracks. Small whoops. Big whoops. MX and SX is the hardest sport on earth, if one of the chosen is on a roll and has confidence it's hard to stop.

GREAT racing is an oddity. Having said that, it happens in the smaller class of most motorsports more often. MXGP has great racing, as does MX3. They can ride the balls of those bikes. 450s in MX/SX. Not so much...

The 250 class tho, go back to 2005 and look how many barnburners there has been...

I remember when the racing in the big boy class was boring from fourth place on back. Up front was some serious shit! Seemed like a weekly thing.

The track looked decent to me, so I think it just came down to it being that much better. We will see what this weekend holds.

Take note, 6 250 riders would have been jockeying for the top 10.

The fastest lap by the majority of riders is before the halfway point. Most of the racing is done by then.

These guys lapped waaaaaaaay up there a lot.

But so did Kenny this weekend.

Difference is, watching these dudes ride like that was maybe the most entertaining the sport ever was. (OR will be)

If you spent any appreciable time on this forum week-in and week-out during the racing seasons, you'd see every single one of those comments posted 100 times over.

I'm not trolling, I've been on this forum long enough to see the kinds of patterns that emerge (and I haven't even been here that long compared to some).

The tradeoff being that while the race at the front may not be bar-banging action every week, the battles from 4-12 generally are. That's the difference in today's racing IMO

At the next race they should make Roczen add 20 pounds to his bike. Maybe that'll tighten things up a bit.
make it 40 to be on the safe side. Surely you know that he's super fit and super pumped n shit

Great idea, they could hire JS#7 as pace rider... All though he would have to keep it on two wheels while leading the field around the track Laughing

That's an interesting point if true, I hadn't heard that anywhere before.

Maybe some people who have already handed Roczen the title this year (or for the next 5 years if you listen to Main Event Moto) should look at this as a possibility. The fact of the matter is, he holeshot. Dungey had to pass his way through Musquin and Tomac to even get a shot at him, by that point he's 9 seconds back at the start of a 17 race series then a medic flag gets thrown and he has to roll a jump. 1 round into a 17 race series and he walks out 3 points down while barely breaking a sweat, im guessing he's right where he wants to be.

As far as the racing goes,Tomac, Seely, Anderson and Musquin will go at it all year. Then Reed, Millsaps, Baggett, Peick, Weimer, Bogle and Tickle will all be in each other business. It may not be a 3 rider battle for the win but there will be battles all over the place if the TV guys know where to find them.

I'm not a fan of average lap times...unless, you drop the two fastest and the two slowest.

15-20 seconds gap at the end of the race is too much, we need more riders closer together.

For **** sake, when will people realise average laptime means NOTHING. Considering it is TOTAL RACE TIME divided by number of laps, it is going to follow finishing order (for those that finished).

Same for average finishing position at the end of the season, almost exactly follows points - Ralph seems to get overly excited at such pointless stats.

Like seriously, am I missing the point??
