Right on, does he have a color or brand preference?

Black is fine. Me and my boy like the Tech series. We have 3s, 5s, and 7s, and they are all good boots.

PayPal headed your way. Grew up in D36, first race was Sac Raceway Stadium track in '91. You're making a big difference for him, so needed in this world. Well done.

I've been lurking around here for 2 years as a non-member. Saw this thread and thought what better reason to join than this? Looking at the list and a chest protector hasn't been mentioned so i'd like to hook him up with one. I use a Thor Guardian and have no complaints but also haven't done the dirty with it(lol). Would one of those be good for him or is there something better i should look at.

I'd expect a small set of the basic metrics would be appreciated. Every young man needs to start a tool kit. I still remember the day I bought my first Snap On socket set.

Depends on your budget. I always recommend the Leatt Fusion series for younger riders. Has (IMHO) the best impact and penetration protection out there. My boy has tested the 2.0 and 3.0 versions with some big crashes and has walked away every time so far. The Guardian is more a roost guard, but I am sure that would work fine too.

Like a few others I have been lurking around Vital for a few years without joining. I want to be involved in this. Hammer since you've seen the bike, could you give us a list of what it might need?

I have an older model (I think 2nd generation) Leatt neck brace that I can donate. It's the small/medium and fit me great when I was his size. Could use a good cleaning but it's in great condition. Let me know the address and I'll ship it.

Can we see some before and after pics of the bike? Maybe don’t tell him about this and video a surprise!

I’m sure like any bike that age it would likely need bearings, brake pads, cables, levers, seat cover, chain sliders, etc. if not, he would always have spares!

I haven't seen it. He just got it a few months ago. I will ask his Grandpa to send me some good photos so we can see. Being an 07 it could be bad, or maybe he found a good used one.

I have asked his Grandpa to see if they can make that happen.

Here's 3 photos of the bike when they picked it up a few months back. It actually looks like it's in pretty decent shape, which is pretty rare for an older CRF150r. Very little paint wear on the frame. Seals are leaking on forks and shock. Maybe it was a garage queen that just needs some TLC. Fixed up it will be awesome!

The bike will be dropped at Slipdog's on Monday for a rebuild of the suspension and a good going-over. I'm hoping it just has some dried out seals and gaskets, needs some fresh fluids and greased up, and is good to go. We will put fresh rubber on it, plus chain/sprockets and a new DT1 air filter too.

Hey Hammer sent a $100 to your paypal for mayson. I wasn't sure about the sizing for the Leatt chest protector as a youth size was for a kid 5'3'' tall and the adult small was for 150 lbs. Hopefully Mayson can get something local. Anyways thanks to everyone for helping out.

He's been saving up for a chest protector so this will help him get that! Thank you!

Plastic with graphics pre-applied should be en route soon. Shameless plug for Decal Works for helping out. Love those guys.

A matching red or black seat cover would be great if someone local could do that and mount it. OE look would look good as well.

Edit-looks like it already has a black cover in decent shape-should look good!

I reached out to Guts Racing for a seat cover. They are local so I'm sure they'll be able to help out. I'll let you know.

Any idea what size gear he might be? I’ve got a basement full of gear from when I was a rep. If I have his size I’ll send him a couple sets
30 pant, medium jersey.

That'd be awesome! I know he's on 2nd/3rd hand gear for almost everything.
