Ha, I guess the money ran out from the last time around.

Those guys are such backyard mechanics, I am amazed their Rube Goldberg contraptions didn't fall apart all over the driveway the first time they were ridden...

Did he hit the transponder line or was he credited with his position based on the riders he lapped like Tedesco way back when in the 250 West?

I don't remember that and I may be misinterpreting what you're saying here. Are you saying that WP was in 5th over the transponder, but crossed the checkers in 4th, but was still credited with a 5th and did not make the main ("out of the main")? If so, then the position he crossed the transponder in is what his official result was..

?
