I was digging through my archives and found this gem from Millville 2011. What a day this was.

Moto 2…I remember looking through my camera’s viewfinder as Reed flew through the air for what seemed to be an eternity. I thought his career was over when he hit the ground. But the part that STILL gives me goosebumps to this day is watching him get back on his bike, charge up the hill and hit the next jump like nothing happened. If you listen closely, you can hear me yell, “Yeah!!” as he raced up the hill. For everyone who witnessed it live, you know the feeling I’m talking about. These are the toughest dudes on the planet.

As a side note, big thanks to Wes Williams for hiring me that weekend. Not sure what I’d be doing today without an opportunity like that.

Somehow I never saw that angle. Damn that was an insane crash. How he got up is beyond me.

Couldn't ask for a better spot to land. Anything besides a downhill would have jacked him up, like Ken.

Pretty crazy to think that's the last time Chad has battled for a championship.. I know it wasn't over yet but no doubt in my mind that was his title.

That battle, as a private team, and the subsequent crash, was what elevated Chad to the status he has now. He was on a hell of a run and gained so many fans that year.

I was at that race. Yeah it was humid. And yeah that wreck was insane to see live. The only thing I can compare it too was watching the Jake Brown XGames fall live.

Those camera angles are what's missing from our current coverage, gives you a real feel for the elevation changes and the speed they are going. we need more track side cameras covering the live feeds!!

Yes a lot went right for him to walk away from it. He landed on a pretty steep slope feet down and it had rained overnight so the ground was somewhat soft and it was on grass. I was sitting in the stands directly below the jump and I figured I'd just watched the end of his career. Unbelievable to see him get up, ride off and finish the moto.

Nice video.
Yeah that get off spooked him pretty good for a while if I remember right. Hate to think what would of happened had he hit flat ground.

On a side note... miss seeing Poto and Dunge out there. Hard chargers them two.

I was there on top of the hill, and remember looking over and seeing Chad flying through the air rolling the windows up. Will never forget it!

Yup. I've always thought that the biggest reason he took as long as he did to get up was because of the sudden stop at the bottom of the hill on what looks like a tractor tread rut. To fall from that high and "only" have the wind knocked out of you is a testament to the fact that for as bad as that crash was, a lot of things went right.

The moto that killed Chad's outdoor career. And who can blame him? That was nuts.

Millville has always been one of my favorite nationals. From watch Reynard run down Rc and pass him on a 125. To watching Js7 and Canard go at it in 2014. I wish I was watching this wknd but will have to settle for Budds Creek in August.

Kool Vid. Thnxz for posting. I wasn't a Chad fan before that crash, but he gained my respect after seeing him get up off the mat & finish the moto. Before that he came across as a whiny person on the podium after RC & JS would hand it to him in the years past. He was definitely fast on the 11-12 Honda CRF450r's & in contention for SX / MX titles those years.
