A sandy track again, that was tormented by rain last season. Nice track that feels a bit like a stadium, with the crowd gathered on the outside.

Additional classes: EMX250 (round 9, 10 & 11), WMX (round 9 & 10), EMX125 (round 11)

Slightly lighter MX2 line up with EMX250 taking place.

I think Coldenhoff will be back on form this weekend.

Some facts heading up to the weekend:

- Mantova is the track where Tim Gajser smashed his jaw at the pre-season race in 2018

- Last year this GP also took place. On Saturday the weather was perfect, on Sunday it downpoured. Cairoli and Prado were victorious.

- Last Saturday Jago Geerts crashed at Olmen during practice, due to a technical issue. He took a huge blow on the shoulder and feared he broke his collarbone. This is not the case, and he underwent treatment at a physiologist every day this week. He should be fine for the weekend.

- Adam Sterry returns as he sat out the rounds at Faenza due to a crash during practice heading up to the GP-weekend. Alberto Forato returns in MX2 after recovering from a dislocated shoulder sustained at Latvia.

- Jeremy Sydow and Simon Längenfelder from DIGA-Procross GasGas Factory Juniors are both out injured. They're being replaced by Michael Sandner and Isak Gifting (who gives up his third place in the EMX250-standings) for the rest of the season.

- Kyle Webster will make his debute in MXGP-class, filling in for the injured Benoît Paturel at JM Honda Racing.

- Wildcards: MXGP: Edoardo Bersanelli and Gianluca Di Marziantonio. MX2: David Herbreteau

- Quentin Prugnières, Xavier Cazal and Meico Vettik will race as wildcards in EMX250, as EMX125's next round will take place at Mantova III (MXGP of Europe).

- Weather forecast: temperatures around 19-22°C (66-72°F) the entire week. Mostly cloudy, small chance of rain.

Will be interesting to see also how the GP schedule affects the riders. They now have 10 GPs in 4 countries coming up in 6 weeks. That will probably affect someone like Prado the most

I'm sure they will scale back his training and riding between GPs accordingly. Nothing really to gain at this point in the season speed and fitness wise but a lot to lose!

Emil Weckman is back on Honda and back in EMX250 after knee injury suffered over year ago in MXGP Russia. We made a little 2015/2020 mash-up interview video today. Emil Weckman back on Honda

Kyle Webster is out for the weekend. He hurt his shoulder and elbow at the ADAC international last week. Man, what a shitty season for Jacky Martens his team...

Man, Martens has so much bad luck this year. Starting a new team.. one retires, the other one injured due to organizer mistake. I'm glad Walsh is doing good, was shocked last year that he didn't had a ride in mx2.

Weckman back on the line is a good thing. If i remember correctly, he did pretty good on the 125's and had a nasty injury right? A bit of a career like Sihvonen.

EMX250 should be cool. Last monday on our local track some of the MX2 and EMX250/125 KTM group riders were riding. De Wolf was impressive, just couldn't hang around with Olsen & Beaton. Was impressed how hard Vialle was pushing on a training too.

A few guys i'm following in EMX250 right now: Adam Kovacs, riding for BT Jumbo this weekend. This kid has talent and heart. Mario Lucas and Adam Collins. These two are riding at my local track a lot. Adam improved alot last few weeks and is coming back from a broken arm/wrist. Lucas broke his back 6 weeks ago and is already back on the bike. Thomas Sileika is back racing this year after two years of absence, don't know why he stopped but he qualifies every race.

Isak gifting and Michael Sandner on the GasGas should be a big step up from them. Gifting was also riding last monday on one of his first days on the GasGas. He has speed but seems like he struggled a bit with the suspension and stuff. Hopefully they fixed it for this weekend. Anyways a good opportunity for both of these talents to get more GP experience!

Well with the way the season is going he could be in the title hunt in a few races. 1 dnf by 222 & 243 and he is in the mix.

Because he's just getting back to full fitness. 3 races in a week is no joke and the ability to recover quickly is part of how fit someone is.
I hope it does not affect him. The tracks should be great for him. 3x Italy, then a home GP, then 3x Lommel.
I hope he makes it a 3way fight for this title.

If it holds up he’s got this title

Emil Weckman comes back from injury & gets injured straight away.
For the down voter, prove me wrong.
Well, that answers the question I was about to ask of you : was he just injured, or are you just predicting it?.

I'm not the ''down voter'', by the way, but seeming to wish ill on a rider, any rider, is harsh.

I'd like to see Emil do well. He's certainly sprouted! Woohoo

He seemed to walk away from the 2 EMX Honda rides I thought he'd earned from his 2 150 titles. I think I asked MBR about him seeming to walk away from those 'prizes', but never got a response from him, or, perhaps, I missed it.

To the two stroke fans.
How about Vettik on the 2 Smoke? Now sits 6th in the points, with two missed rounds. Who follows MXGP, knows that the EMX2 is no joke. Top 3, is a instant threat to top 5 in MX2

Unfortunately he did walk away from Honda deal back in end of 2016, but in the end the grass definitely wasn't greener on the other side. Now he needed help and we decided give him a one more chance, because otherwise his motocross career would have been ended right here. Due injury of other rider he now has chance to race the rest of EMX250 series on Honda Assomotor team that I nothing but great things to say. He has been back on the bike only 6 weeks and unfortunately the speed isn't there yet. We believe the kid (or young man should I say) has the work ethic, desire and talent to be professional rider, but he needs to stay injury free. As a bonus he nice guy and fun to work with. He crashed hard to day, but it wasn't because he was riding over his head or doing anything stupid. It was a high side in first corner and unfortunately he hit his head quite hard, so we need to go day by day when he can return to racing. As of now seems that he has to skip the Tuesdays race, but we are hoping that he will back for Saturday. Interesting enough some people didn't take the EMX150 series seriously, but today there were two riders from that series on podium (Fredriksen & Edberg) and others that have put some great results too (Talviku, Elzinga, Adamo...).

Early on in the session but Isak Gifting is sitting 9th. It just shows 1. how good the EMX250 class is and 2. how good the KTM/Husqvarna/GasGas 250 is

it is ridiculous how fast and close together all the top mxgp class is too..... at one stage there were 13 riders within a second!
