722 to HEP Suzuki

Edited Date/Time 10/15/2018 7:48am
Didn't see a topic yet. Adam Enticknap signed with HEP Suzuki last night at the live Pulp show.

You can see the video on Clint Lund's vlog here:
https://youtu.be/sIJ1RKLVAhI

24 minutes and 40 seconds is the announcement, but the whole video is cool, shows a lot of behind the scenes press day stuff.

Does this mean Adam won't be rocking Fly gear for 2019? Isn't FXR a big sponsor of the HEP team?

I hope they also bring back Soubeyras for a full season! He has actually been faster than Ferrandis at this weekends Marseille SX.

Even if he doesn't get a salary he's still a head. He won't have to pay out of pocket to go racing, fly in and out, good equipment, etc.

Wasn’t there talk of a possible Bogle to HEP, or was that a different team.

Was talk of it, but no money is what I heard. Could be wrong on that, but he’s still without a ride and has no bike at the moment

He'll be as slow as he was last year, and the year before that, too. How TF does this dude have a following? He's a privateer that barely qualifies for the night show. I'm all about privateers, but how does this kid have such a following without being able to qualify for mains on a regular basis.

I get that he doesn't have the best results but racing isn't always about that. The guy is popular, has a following and is marketable.

He's got close to 70k followers on Instagram.
His music video has over 340k views.

You don't think that counts for anything?

Look at Stankdog. He doesn't get the best results but has a huge following. Over 110k followers on Instagram. That's more than some of the bigger names on factory rides.

People will be lining up at the HEP Motorsports rig to get autographs and that's eyes on the sponsors.

Racing IS about results. Do you think anyone would know who Stankdog is if he didn't ride a smoker? Nope. This 722 has nothing special about him other than a shitty "music" video.

I would not normally comment on a post like this, But my friend, maybe you should go and follow another sport. Have you ever met him , Adam is what this sport is all about one of the nicest guys (and Tyler) you could come across, I have spent time with them when in USA, they have always made me feel welcome. If you have ever been to a SX maybe check out his pit area and see how he interacts with the fans.

There can only be 1 winner and 3 guys on the podium. I never said it wasn't about results. I said that it isn't always about them. If you're mid pack or at the tail end of it you need to do something different in order to get eyes on the sponsors.

BTW, you proved my point that it isn't always about results.

"you think anyone would know who Stankdog is if he didn't ride a smoker?"

No and by choosing to ride the two stroke he carved out a niche for himself and is known to plenty of people. If it wasn't for that do you think he would have as many sponsors as he has now? No. His results alone wouldn't justify them but having the following he has does.

Same applies to Enticknap.

Racing is a form of marketing and both of those guys do it well.

The race itself is about results, but the industry is all about marketing.

Earned a 2 digit national number competing in only 450 supercross. I’d say that accomplishment in itself should earn quite a bit of respect.
