What’s everyone’s experience going from 6D to Fox or Fox to 6D? I currently have a 6D ATR-1 but in the market for either the new ATR-2 or V3.

...seems like a lot of people (pro’s and amateurs) are running the V3 but I find they kind of look “cheaply” made compared to 6D.

Not in the market for any other brand. I know people will have strong feelings about other helmets but these are the two that I’m considering.

apples and oranges mate. Fox is a gear company which also happens to make helmets, 6D is a helmet company. Nuff said.

Iv been a Bell guy for the last 6 years. I recently bought 2 new V3 and I am really happy with them. Lightweight and comfortable. If they can protect a guy like a roczen when he hit his head in his big crash and not suffer a concussion the helmet is good in my book.

I think we all know the answer, which is why the Geico switch from 6d to Fox helmets worries me.

My exact thoughts. So many guys do wear them; Roczen, Dungey, Reed, Wilson, etc the list is way larger than 6D. Would professional athletes really compromise wearing the best equipment for money? Or is the V3 truly in the same “advancement field” as 6D?

X2. I began this topic based on this new deal with the Gieco team. Gieco Honda is where 6D made their breakout in the helmet industry. Crashes like Zach Bells and Rj Hampsires at Red Bull SR are proof alone that 6D’s technology works.

I ride with a guy that refuses to wear anything else except 6D. He even turned down a 60% off voucher I had for a Bell helmet when he wrecked his last 6D.

Ironically, he's suffered three concussions in the last two years. Now I'm not saying he wouldn't have done the same with another brand of helmet, but the 6D certainly hasn't prevented him from knocking himself out multiple times. He's not doing Pastrana level stuff either, he's a novice vet rider.

I think they're overrated safety wise, but if you like the way they look and they fit your head well, I don't think they're less safe than other top brands.

The only advantage the V3 has is price. 6D changed the helmet game. They were chosen by the NFL. Pros wear the V3 because they get paid to as part of a head to toe deal.

If you want to look like the pros get a V3.

If you want the safest helmet money can buy(IMO) get the ATR-2.

Got a buddy who swears his 6D/ Oakley airbrake combination has made him a better rider.I on the other hand went for an ARAI Vx pro 4.So to answer your question 6D.IMHO.

The 6D is most likely the superior helmet. I think the v3 is comparable to most other high end lids though. The problem with the 6D is it's the ugliest helmet, I don't know if you could pay me to wear it.

It's not that the V3 is bad, it's that 6D is better.

If you remember 6D was the first to address rotational energy issue (in moto) with their unique dual EPS design that's connected with dampeners. MIPS is a branded trademarked plastic lining. MIPS is just a plastic lining so your head can move in the helmet. Not that MIPS doesn't work, it's better to have a helmet with MIPS than without... but the 6D design is genius in a helmet. The only reason more riders/teams don't use 6D is that the brand is new and they don't have enough capitol yet. 6D has only been around since 2013. A brand like Fox has so much money they can easily out bid essentially a start up company. I'd say 6D is an established brand now and they aren't going anywhere but considering the costs of starting a business like that and the fact that they just came out with their 2nd gen design, there's probably not a lot of money going around for biding wars.
