Given my height and weight, at a beginner novice/intermediate level is a 2021 yz450f or KTM sxf 450 to much bike or will I be good due to my weight?

You will be ok. Its all in the control of the wrist. I wouldn't recommend those bikes for trail riding tho. I am 6'3" 220lbs and don't like the yz450 rider triangle. Its cramped/tight and the foot to pegs distance is short and awkward. The KTM is better for taller riders.

As a beginner I would go 250f in the sake of safety

Beginner, novice, and intermediate are vastly different riding abilities.

That tall tho, crf, kx, or ktm I feel would gel well.

I mean I have motorcycle experience. I’ve rode street for 5 years and rode motocross for 1 full year. 2 seasons.

I’m was riding novice last season, but could probably compete at an intermediate level.

I’m not in to trail riding. I ride motocross and arena cross.

Just get the one you want. If you don't like it after all, sell it and get the other.

Yamaha for the better suspension, and easier to setup for your size

I rode a 125 at 220. Made me better.

You're probably over estimating your skill a tad, the jump to intermediate from a true novice is pretty big.

250f.

Get the YZ450F and use the tuner app to tone down (detune) the hit when you crack the throttle. You can totally mellow out the YZ if you want, then as you get better you can crank the power back up. You can also do it with gearing, or a combination of the two. That said, a 19 or newer YZ250F is a badass bike and I think you would be faster on it. I know I'm faster on a 250F personally, but like the extra power of the 450F for single track and open desert stuff.

And by the way, I'm 5-11 and a muscular 210 lbs. A YZ250F pulls me around perfectly fine. You could consider a YZ250F, put on a pipe, use the tuner to hop it up on power/hit, gear it to your liking, set up the suspension and I guarantee you will be faster on it than any 450F.

Same size as you. I ride a new KTM 450, I would get a 250. Better training bike.

I’d go spin bike first. 215 is a bit heavy.

250F hands down a better idea. Im barely scratching at intermediate level after 3 years (first 2 years slow progression, bad fitness, not a lot of track time). Are you able to clear every jump at your track on your current bike? If no, a 450 would only exaggerate low skill/technique and will make riding longer/faster harder.

Second the 250F.. I am 6'1-210 and ride a YZ250F. Rode my buddies 450, is heavy feeling, too powerfull and way too easy to get out of shape in a hurry..I am a vet B rider. Get in somewhat shape. Do some kind of exercise everyday..otherwise you will ride for 5 minutes get tired and wish you were in shape..watch a ton of AJ Catanzaro youtube videos and focus on riding technique. Beginners these days have so many resources to learn that I wish I had when I started. Good luck!!

I’m the same height as you and not far off the same weight, I ride a 250f and a 125. They get me around just fine, you either like the 450s or not, I find them to be big heavy feeling tanks but some people love them. See if you can try one out before buying it.
