It's gotta start somewhere and he built that bike basically on his own from what I understand.....if you're going to put 2 strokes on blast like this, remember how reliable 4 strokes were 5 years ago when competing against 2 strokes and also base your data on a professionally mechanics tuned OR a factory race bike that has been mic'd balanced and fully gone through..... THEN post about the reliability of these horribly unreliable 2 strokes ...... Oh yea and there was that tremendous amount of mud and water you may want to factor in there too..... (facepalm)

Fact is 99% of the 4 strokes finished no mechanical problems.

50% of 2 strokes finished, Now throw some of that East Florida Bankers Math at that, it still equals the same.

4 strokes Go - 2 Strokes Blow.

2 strokes are like Nostalgia Dragsters, They are cool but the NHRA isn't worried about a Come Back.

Why does 2-stroke fan think 4- strokes are too much money and ruining the sport? First off, does anyone really pay full msrp? No, I paid $5500.00 out the door at Motosp, ort, for my 09 rm,z 450,brand new ,in '03 i paid $5600.00 for a new rm250, so overall price is a nonfactor. Second, a bottom end rebuild and cylinder costs about the same, the head is only extra cost, take care of it and it will last a long time, because 99% of us don't ride our bikes like Barcia.

500guy you are one smart dude. 4-strokes are the best. 2 strokes blow. Since 4 strokes have started racing is better and the sport is at a new level that it has never been before. I watch the old races and man 2-strokes are slow. Like watching the c-class at my local track. Wish everyone was as smart as 500guy on this board.

Actually, no Bank is very different than wasting Bank. As mentioned in another post, the decision makers today on new bikes are not 16. The guys buying new, or those who do not choose to buy new, are 40-50. That is me and several others. I could go down and buy a new 450, but I don't want the cost to deprive me of my fun. Thus, I'm looking for a solid 2 stroke that won't take money from me that I need to spend on SX tickets, a new pipe, etc. that I contribute to the sport...

And those 2 strokes got more cheers and excitement from the fans than most of the 4tards.

Heck, both of those 2 strokes got mentions in RacerX. One with it's own profile (Ryan Smith on a borrowed YZ250) and another with gopro footage. That's 100% exposure.

Face it, people love 2 strokes.

You can have more fun for less Money on a New Stock 4 Stroke, if properly maintained.

You just make up excuses to suit your feelings, not reality.

You see, if you'll notice the bikes I've had, I've been the 4 stroke route. It cost me a lot more to run and maintain the 4 stroke, so that is why I don't have a dirt version. The street is a different matter... I base my opinion on my experiences as well as those I associate with. I don't condem anyone for their choice, I'm just expressing mine and why...

I am rebuilding my 125 for under 1000k total.

Thats a full exhaust for a 4 stroke.

Not debating which is better but I have more fun on a 2 stroke then a 4 stroke.

Plus it takes more skill and ability which adds to the fun factor for me, and I am only riding for fun and nothing else.

I just wish they would make an equal displacement rule. And if the two strokes are that slow and outdated as people say, then the race results wouldnt change. Right?

Whoa, usually I see an LCQ gate with 22 riders on it. I saw about half a gate at each LCQ at Daytona. I don't think 99% of the 4 strokes finished with no mechanical problems.

So why is there a displacement penalty for 2T anyhow? Seems like the rules book would be thinner if it was just CC for CC.

2 smokers are cheaper to repair if cyclinder is still good. But a 4 stroke is more fun to ride due to it causing my lazy ass to have to work less. Smile

EXACTLY!!!!

Matter of fact I grenaded the piston on my 01 RM250 and picked up all the top end parts, gaskets, and seals for less than $200 .... total out of pocket on my RM? $250 rebuilt and running tip top shape and thats WITH paying a mechanic friend of mine to rebuild it....ooohhh did I mention he is putting new for seals in it too???

"Plus it takes more skill and ability which adds to the fun factor for me, and I am only riding for fun and nothing else"

Thats why I ride 2 strokes....I became bored with riding when I had 450's and 250f's .... just me but slicing a track full sing on a 2 stroke is a great feeling.

When I heard what Mathees said about them, and then read how pissed some of the people got I realized a good percentage of them must be on crack because nothing he said was really bad.

2 strokes are fun, but their novlties, anyone at pro level does it just for that, Renners real race bike is a 4- stroke, not a chainsaw
