Currently we are spoiled for depth in the 450s.
With the amount of top guys aged 27-31 are we heading for a mass exodus within the next 3 years?
It also seems like there is very few elite riders aged 20-26 I feel the 450 class will be pretty thin come 2024.

From my calculations Currently we have 13 factory bikes and all of those riders are former 250 champs.

Riders an when I think they will retire.
Marv and Osborne end of 22
Roczen I think will race 23 sx and retire
Tomac and Anderson end of there new contracts. 23?
I don't see Wilson staying more then 2-3 more season
Barica he is 29 3 more years??
Ferrandis is 27 3-5 years?

That's 8 top riders that will be gone within about 3 or so years. Being replace by only 3 250 champions. Cooper, jett and colt.
Leaving webb ap ac and sexton to be the 450 class veterans.

New talent always rises up. Who thought the two Ryan's would pretty much dominate for years when they were amateurs? Younger riders will be moving up, and some riders flourish on the bigger bikes. Dungey is a great example.

I get we will have new superstars coming thru.
But the issue is the depth of the class in 3-5 years.
It seems there's very few elite riders between 20-25.
J-coop, sexton? Is there any1 else capable in that age group and that's what will cause the depth issue? We have an abundance of talent 25+ and under 20. Jett will move up fast but it will be a while b4 the shmodas, thrashers and swolls move up.
We will be losing 8 top level guys and replacing the with 1-2 jett and Cooper (top level). Colt has a title but I think he ranks about the same as bogle. The other 6 will be replaced by guys without titles like rj mosiman forkner and Hunter. So I think the field depth will go coz those guys don't rank on the level on osborne, barcia, musquin, Anderson.

Dude, all it takes is for a guy to have a good moto and boom. Hes in it to win it confidence wise. There will always be high level competition nowadays. Just gotta see how it shakes out.

I think we will be just fine here in the AMA series. I could even see Honda rising to top dogs again with Sexton and Lawrence.

In 3 to 5 years the field can be completely different - Levi Kitchen could be dominating the 450 class, for instance. Kinda like how nobody really expected Webb to be so damn good.

I get what you mean. Ferrandis, Sexton and AC will be prepared to fill the void of our current top guys, and other guys are always going to step up to play as well. We might have threads in ‘24 asking if it’s the deepest field once you add Jett, J-Coop, Martin etc… y’never know

That being said, it’s gonna be sad seeing ET, K-Roc, Barcia, JA etc retire probably around the same time frame

No 1 expected Webb to be dominant??
I think Webb was the most dominant 250 rider since RV.
Webb had 3 250 titles in 2 years b4 moving up. So when moving up, Webb was expected to be good.
If anything he underperformed once he moved onto the 450 class. Or the 450 depth and level made it hard for him trying to compete with RV and the guys that were 3 years older them him that are all now in the latter stages of there career.

I just feel we only have a few elite riders aged 20-25.
And that's the issue. As the 25+ start to retire and b4 the younger the 20 group comes thru. There will be less guys on the line capable of winning.

Aged 20-25 we only have Justin cooper, Chase sexton, hunter lawrence, Forkner, mcadoo, Mosiman.
That's 6 guys and only 2 champions.
Is there any others in that age group capable of winning races or titles?

Compare that to riders aged 25-30 that have won races or titles.
Anderson, Ac,ap, barcia, bogle, colt, Ferrandis, jmart, Mcelrath, mookie, roczen, rj, savagty, tomac, Wilson, webb
That's 16 guys. 13 of the champions the other 3 have come close.

I think the group 20 and under is very strong. Jett, shimoda, swoll, thrasher, etc.

Jett, moisman, hunter, swoll, J copper. There's 5.
It's always going to be good. It is a bummer when legends retire.

I think Wilson has said 22 may be his last year? Or am I imagining that?
