Have you guys seen this? 19 year old Alex Harvill jumped 425 feet. Insane. I believe he's on a 450 Honda.

Commitment. At those distances even the successful landings must hurt like hell.

Unreal. The thing I would be worried most about is body positioning. Not really speed or distance since you can measure those. I would be worried about the bike wanting to endo or come back. Then your fucked. That would be the scariest to me.

Not very smart here's his 266 foot jump, tons of parked trucks to hit if he crashed.

425'.....wow! That is crazy. Wasn't the record before around 325' or something close to that? The thing that scares me is not only the jump itself , but the landing and how the bike will hold up. I wouldn't think the stock forks , triple clamp and head stock assembly would hold up. Either way.....super impressive.......I think that record will be here to stay for quite some time.

Speaking of......sure would be good to see the video of this jump. The landing ( no matter how smooth ) had to be rough. Christ that gets crazier every time I think about it.

I am sitting on the 10th floor of an office building. In that pic it looks like he's higher than that off the ground.
Thankyou no!

Alex is my wife's cousin. I believe he was on his KX450f, (that's what he races with). Here is another pic of him from the jump.

And here is I think his first apperance on Vital, Alex

So what's the story? Did he make a Guiness world record?

Incredible jump.

However, I was also concerned with the trucks after the landing. Had he landed a little out of control, he could have gone straight into them.

Guiness wasn't there, but it was measured. He jumped just over 400 the day before, and the following day he hit 425ft. Jay Schweitzer was there filming the whole thing. He just started to hit the distance ramp at Toe's earlier this year. He also just turned pro this year.

I was the one that did the YouTube video. It wasn't a planned jump that day. I didn't even have a tripod and only have a Dslr to film. I was shooting photos of Alex and my other friend. The trucks were close but not that big of deal. They were moved on the 425' jump Wink The measured 266' day was the first time he ever jumped off a metal ramp beside some smaller ones at the same place earlier that day. The actual record jump was silky smooth takeoff and landing. Not to mention it was the first and only attempt at it that day.

To answer someones q's , he was jumping the tracks owners bike a Honda CRF 450. He races currently on a 250 and 450 Kawasaki. the actual video from jump will be released in due time and it will be worth the wait. I also have footage of the progression of his few days jumping over a few months time period (feb 2012-may) that led up to the 425'.

Check out his blog to keep up as things progress. http://alexharvill.com
