Barry Turnbull is a great guy and working class hero from the north of England. He entered the recent Hawkstone International on his 32-year-old 1989 CR500. He’s done so regularly in the past, and even holeshot one year!
Great video about his race:

The Shop
He went all 'modern' the next year - 2018 - racing what I think was an '89 model........
I'm not sure what rules the Hawkstone International runs under - obviously a 500 is OK, Bazza's out there, so, maybe 'Open'. I remember Billy Mackenzie racing a CR500 a few years back at (I think) a Brit National, so, perhaps they use the old ACU 500cc class, or up to 1000cc rules much like we had in OZ, in my youth?
An engine mount nut backed out on Billy in that race, if I recall correctly. He / they never heard of Loctite, or, better still, Nyloc Nuts? I've not had a engine mount come loose in the 19 years I've had my CRE500 for, running Nyloc nuts. Though, the LH seat bolt want's to go awol if I don't check it often, even with a spring washer under it And Loctite on it. It's the only problem I ever have with the old thing.
GP in the Oregon high dez 97. I won on Saturday. On Sunday, I was to scared in 5th and got passed by, of all things, a KTM.
