Any advice would be great from anyone has made the same swap or gone back down to a 250F from a 350SXF.

Would you do it again, what were the main differences? I have the chance to swap my 17 350SXF to a 18 YZ250F at no cost. Just not gelling with the KTM as i thought i would and can not get the suspension dialed as good as any previous bike I've had.

I went from a 17 350SXF to an 18 250SXF, to me it was a bad move, I'm looking at changing back to a 350SXF now. I had a similar issue suspension wise, I went down the spring kit for the works and it was the best investment I made to any bike I've had.,

I would say not gelling with suspension isn’t the best reason to drop down. Sounds like the person getting your 350 would be for sure getting the better deal. Are you not getting along with the power? I’ve had 350 and 250 two strokes and that’s where I’d end up. 250 2t makes the closest power wise to the 350 maybe try a YZ250 if you’re trading to a dealer?

I do not own a 350, but I have rode a 17’ ktm and Husky 350 and thought they were awesome (motor wise). The suspension is garbage unless you buy cvs/trax and yes that set up is absolutely necessary. Having suspension work on the stock components is basically polishing a turd and is a waste of money. Depending on your weight and skill you would most likely favor the yz250f. The overall rider cockpit is a lot more comfortable and the suspension is 100x better. The yamaha will also easily outlast the life of a ktm. Depending on the hours/parts on each bike it may be a fair trade. I dang near rode all of the bikes and have found the yz250 to be the best all around bike for me. I am 190lbs and A class speed. If I was less than 170lbs I would ride a yz250f because they are amazing bikes. That’s just my opinion. I do suspension testing and ride a lot of different bikes. At the end of the day, you want a bike that is comfortable and you enjoy riding.

Went from a 350sxf to a yz250f, 37 year old vet rider, 165lbs, decent speed, over 20 years riding. You will have to carry more momentum and ride the 250f with more aggression, but i'd say i can do everything on the 250f that can be done on the 350, but really have to be focused on hitting my lines. The suspension is much better on the yamaha but the ktm turned way better. I'm not quite sure if i'll go back with a 350f or stick with the yz250f next go round. Depends how lazy i get. They are both good bikes.

Dude i got out of a 2001 toyota tacoma, 230,000 miles not a single problem. Went to a 2016 chevrolet colorado with the diesel engine. Spent more time in the shop over the course of two years with that chevy than the 15 years combined with the taco. Traded that colorado in for a 2018 tundra. I'd say it's the other way around if we are talking reliability. Yamaha's are typically bullet proof. I did have some minor issues with the ktm.

Im going the same route.

I like the Husky motor and brakes but the suspension sucks. I went spring conversion and still can't get comfortable on it.

I recently rode a 19 YZF250 and that thing ripped. Felt like stock Yamaha to revalved WP the Yamaha was better, it felt so much more settled when in the rough stuff. Gave me more confidence honestly.

On a perfectly groomed track I think the 350 is better and I know the bike is very capable I just feel like for me I want something that is going to work better when the track is beat to shit so I will give up a little bit of the motor for way better suspension.

My 99 Tacoma threw a rod at 180K. I was shocked. Amsoil oil and very well maintained.

Got a JDM motor put in and I will run that thing until it dies. But I have been checking on when the Diesel 1500 on the Chevy is coming out. Gas mileage on my Tacoma is laughable.

As the owner of a 2017 Canyon, I appreciate this.

The RAV I traded in on it, you couldn’t kill with a gernade, lol. (it did like oil somewhat).

If I was young, tough and racing from big money, the Yamaha’s are great and so reliable.
But I also have an old bulletproof to this point Katoom, RFS motor.
I’m just an old woods hound, but the best thing I ever bought to get my old, crappy suspension to work good was a Scott’s Dampener.

Now, no e-start or hydraulic clutch, no deal.old, cranky. Plus a little more power makes life easier.

Good luck. If the bikes r both in great condition, might be a win win. A very race occurrence.

Just do the sss fork conversion if you can’t get along with the WP stuff. You are definitely going to be down grading if you don’t get some cash with the yzf.

I got about 17 mpg in the v6 2001 tacoma, i'm getting around 20 with the 4.6 tundra. My last tank i got 21.7 with the tundra, very satisfied and very light footed.
