Has anyone made this transition and been satisfied? Iam coming off a 2016 350sxf and i love the bike but i want something different. I grew up on two strokes and just sold my 03 RM250 which i loved, so iam no stranger. Its between the 250sx or wait for the 2019 350.

I’m in a similar situation but looking to go from a 17 350 to a 19 125. I’m not sure if it’s worth the wait for the 19 I can get a 18 150 now.

i went from a 350sxf w/recluse to a 17 250sx, probably 7-10 seconds faster a lap on the 250sx (2:30 lap time).
way more fun to ride, much more flickable, much lighter and my corner speed has gone up dramatically.
I miss the 350 at a place like southwick (long straights, deep sand), other than that Im glad i made the switch.

You'll like the switch for the AER over 4CS mostly

I've had both. 350 is faster witch makes it more fun to me. I think the 250sx has gotten a lot more mellow since I had one in 13. My 13 SX was a hard hitting beast, but that was about it. I haven't ridden the new SX motor. Funny how similar the two bikes are in my opinion.

I had a rm250 recently and depending on the track the lap times were faster then the 350. If there were long straights and jumps out of corners the 350 was better. But riding the hills and tighter tracks i liked the 250. The 250 only felt lighter coming into corners. Iam just curious if ill be happy with ONLY a 2 stroke. Iam tired of the cost and maintnence of the 4 strokes.

I was in the same boat as you several times ive had 250fs 450fs and 250 2 strokes and i always go back to a 2 stroke because to me there simple to maintain and still a blast to ride and ive always been a slow rider lol

Seriously. Growing up with 2 strokes i loved just throwing the thing on the stand after riding, then just hoping on it a few days later and ripping it. Obviously doing the normal maintnence is important but with the 4 strokes iam so paranoid that its a ticking time bomb and ill have to mortgage my house if it blows. It cost me $375 to rebuild the entire motor on my last 2 stroke. My top end on the 350 cost more then that.

Interested in this topic, went from a yamaha yz250f to a ktm 350sxf back to a yz250f. In a year or two i will be once again considering a new bike, the husqvarna 350fc or a 250tc. I am a 37yr old 165lb, decent speed (fast novice) but looking for comfort (setup and suspension) and the fun factor of the bike. Opinions?

I'm a 61 year old vet rider and I have a 16 KXF 450. I love my Kawi, but last fall I decided to buy a 125 just to play on.
I found a nice used 16 KTM 125SX for sale and bought it. Had to drive 4 hrs to get it. Not many used 125's out there.

Anyway, the last 2 times I went out for open practice at my local track I rode my 125 and had an absolute blast.
Never even started my 450.
That said, I wouldn't want a 125 for my only bike.

It was a lot of fun, and I felt like I was going fast. But I don't really think I was. lol
Although I did feel more in control. Being only 155 lbs, sometimes my fo fiddy is a handful. Especially when I get tired.

Or then a again, it could be my lack of skill/talent. Lol

I bought, rebuilt and sold a 2000 yz125 a few years ago. It was fun but man that was a lot of work to make that thing go. Iam also 210lbs so that doesnt help. I can do endless laps on the 350. People would always ask how i dont get arm pump or dont get tired. Wasnt the case with my last 2 stroke. I could get 30 min moto in and i was beat.

I had a 350xc-f and switched to a 250xc. I like the 2 stroke better. I’m just as fast on it, and have way more fun. Also grew up on 2 strokes.

I have a 2017 250sx. It is one of the best out of the box 2 strokes ever made. For a all around mx bike, its just hard to beat. Just get one.

Yep... I have an 18 250sx, I bought in the fall of last year....just wanted a backup bike to my 450. Once I started riding it, I did not want to get off it. You will have to play with some jets & gearing to get it setup for what you ride. It will take a little longer to adjust to the quickness of everything, shifting, clutching, braking ect. Give it some time. When I pull off the track on my 2t I feel like I was just in a street fight! I would say these bikes are on par with the last factory 2t"s that the factory riders raced.

Mix at 60:1 and they are happy. Even mixing 50:1 I could tell a difference on my 18 TC250. Very sensitive to mix ratio.

This is cool to hear as I am rocking a 2013 sx250 myself. My first bike actually so the power was hard getting used to. im 250 lbs and it goes like im not even on there sometimes lol

and to the original poster.... I really love my bike, its definitely over 200 hours and I have yet to replace the piston or any engine/tranny/clutch related parts lol

Im a Nov B xc/enduro rider so its a bit different than being a good MX rider and the constant high rpm thats involved. Only things that have broke on the bike has been my fault. Only thing that I can say is the bike definitely keeps me on my toes with watching what bolts are vibrating off of it lol loctite is your friend

not quite the same, but I sold my yz450 and bought a 2005 yz250 and I'm so glad I did. The yz is so much fun and feels like nothing under me. I rebuilt the entire thing for $1000 including a new cylinder, graphics and updated plastic kit.
