How many hours are you 350 guys getting out of your piston, valves, and cranks?

I don't have much time on mine yet but I was just wondering what intervals you guys were replacing or having failures.

|

Checked valves & piston at 30 and 55 hrs right before it got nicked, wasn't even a hint of an issue.

Not that that means anything. Whip the head off!

Not sure what year yours is, but I had an '11. I did a piston every 40 hours or so, and in retrospect, I probably could have left them in there for double that. They always came out perfect, and the ring gap never changed. Keep in mind I revved the piss out of my 350.

At 105 hours I replaced the valves, because I never had a four stroke with OEM valves in that long. My OEM valves never moved in the 105 hours, not even a thousandth.

I sold the bike with 165 hours on the stock crank and clutch. The durability of the engine really impressed me.

Tomac and/or Anderson for 2020.....

I never had to do anything to my 2016. Sold it, was like new inside and all to spec. Oil change every 4 hours AND oil filter. Nothing more than that and I assume my 19 will be just as good...

Mine is a 2017. Do you guys stray away from Motorex 10w-60, if so what do you use?

I was using Roletta with my Rekluse. I've since changed to Amsoil 10-60. I get a better deal on the Amsoil over the Motorex, that's the only reason.

I only have 15 hours on my 2018 so nothing to add from personal experience.

There are quite a few guys on Thumpertalk that use them for trail riding and report 200-300 hours on completely stock engines. That's one of the things that sold me on this over another 250F

Checked valves at 20 and 70 hrs, new piston at 70 hrs.
I run Mobil1 15w50, change after 6 hrs, oilfilter change every 12 hrs. no trouble at all.

BTW i have a 2014 model.

I have 148 on my 11 and the piston looks absolutely fine. I had some kind of an oil failure that got my cam and starved a valve. It was running great until it just stopped. I think that piston would have went to 200 without batting an eye pretty sure I could put it all back together once I get the head back and it would be a go but I'm in this far so putting one in it. Mine has been rock solid up to this point.

|

9/26/2018 3:19 PM

Probably over 300 on my 16. I race A and am not afraid of revving it. Mine only shifts well when I use the 60w motorex.

|

9/26/2018 7:43 PM

66 hours on mine, valves were in spec. I change my oil and filter every other ride. Have used motorex from day one.

Other than wheel bearings and a fork problem my bike has been good.

I used to play the rotella game. I understand the formula recently changed, not for the better for bikes. I’ve manned up and just went with the motorex. It’s priced much better on amazon than it is anywhere else. Doesn’t seem to get as black from my clutch abuse either.

|

For me, It depends on mx or offroad. I know two dudes over 300 and never opened anything, all original. But they’re offroad guys. Personally, I need more peace of mind on jumps than that

I was a Rotella user until I loaned my bike to a fast A rider and my new oil was black in 15 minutes! Rekluse slipping like crazy. Changed oil with Amsoil, readjusted the clutch and all is good. Therefore, I use Amsoil or Motorex now...

9/27/2018 3:01 PM

I seen a thread on here a while back where someone had claimed to have done 330hrs and never opened the engine, just oil changes regularly...I plan on doing mine at 100hrs but its going to take me a couple of years to get there.

|

9/27/2018 3:15 PM

I sold a 2014 350xcf with over 270 hours on the completely original engine. Valves never moved, ran like a champ. Motul 300v 15w-50 every 7-10 hrs.

|

9/27/2018 3:18 PM

70hrs on mine, the valves are perfect and it runs like a top. I'm not a big revver unless I need to, I ride it a gear high most of the time and abuse the clutch but I doubt it would care if I ran it the opposite way.

So OB, you're saying if you got 300 the way you ride, I can get at least 600 devil But for real, that's insane! You ever check the compression or bottom end?

No Joe, I haven't touched my engine. Oil changes every three or four rides and clean filter every ride. I think it's a pretty good engine. Not even a clutch.

Man I’ve always wanted one because I can’t decide between the fun of revving a 250f and the durability of the 450. Was really just not sure on durability of the 350 though, but sounds like I have nothing to worry about there. cool

105hrs on my '14. Vet female rider, don't rev it much, change oil every few hours (Rotella T6).

AFAIK, the Rotella T4 blend still meets all the requirements dictated in the manual. What's changed that's not good for bikes?

If the oil is black that is usually because it’s doing GOOD things. The engine or clutch makes the oil dark. Not the other way around. Rotella is exceptional oil.

9/28/2018 7:27 PM

'17 with 80 hours. Valves all in spec, nothing replaced inside the engine. I'll likely put in a new piston at 100 hours.

I was set on getting a yz250f next year. This thread has me second guessing myself.

|

I have 2011 bought new, over 200 hours and have never touched the motor, at all, nothing, no adjustments, never been apart. Change the oil and filter every 5 hours and air filter every ride. the bike has also done 500 miles in Baja. Very sold bike.
I now have a 2015 Husqvarna FC350, my son has the 2011.
