Hi went 24-0 with #7. Why change, it's THE lucky number.

Why? Personally, I've never been a fan of guys at the very top end of the sport running three-digit numbers. It doesn't matter if it's 199, 377, or 800.

I think #259 had a really good story for the "James Stewart" brand. Isn't that what the permanent numbers are all about? I wouldn't have changed it to 7.

personally i think of the numbers as branding.....and he had #259 on lock since pw50 days...... won races and championships one after another on that number...... when i think of Bubba i think 259, when i think James i think 7..... idk, the guy has so much talent either way, hopefully he puts it to use this year

BTW...who isnt a fan of the #199.....that number is an icon for our sport.

I thought the story about 259 was that was his buddies number. He got paralyzed and then James took it over in honor of him.

That's correct. I personally would like to see 259 on his bike. Anything that could help bring Bubba back.

#259 was originally Tony Haynes' number......he is a family friend of the Stewart's. he was injured and paralyzed...james looked up to him as a racer and when he started racing him and his dad decided to keep the #259 going for him...

I'm the complete opposite. If Travis Pastrana ever changed his number to 9 during his career, it would be like him racing a Honda.

I think the amateur number thing is only cool when a motocross jedi does it though.

I don't understand why that would matter.

259 all the way. I think a 3 digit is way more recognizable in the long run.

Did something happen between Tony Haynes and James? He used to be around a lot and come to some of the races. Now he doesnt come to any races, no pics of them hangin out or even any clips of him on Bubba's World Dizzy

As screwed up as this sports numbering system is, it doesn't matter what they run IMO.
bradmx421, you say new bike, new team, but the 259 isn't a new number for him. I think as long as his attitude and love for the sport is as it seemed when he ran the 259 we'll see an exciting James Stewart.
