Hello everyone, new to the site but have known about it for a long time. Im currently riding an 18 rmz 450. Always had a secondary bike or two. Last couple seasons I had a 13 crf450r and 12 yz250 2 stroke I rode in addition to the rmz. Then I sold both and am currently looking for something else. Question being will a 250f be competitive being I'm a larger rider (210 lbs) and B class level? I want something I can rev to the moon and have a blast on. Mostly just riding for fun but I plan to race occasionally. I'm looking at a 20 kx250 because there are screaming deals on them currently. Last year I put in around 40 track days here in the midwest. Thanks for the input!

B class with the teens and early 20s- Not likely competitive

B class with the vets/ seniors - plenty competitive.

Depends on the track. 250F is a great second bike for 180-220 lbs.

buy something you can and will use .

we had a second bike that could run a different class, so back in the day 250/500.. and then 250/125. Now between me and the boy we have 250/450 modern, and 125 /500 Evo Super Evo .

absolutely competitive if you are willing to rev it to the moon.... Otherwise, a 250F is gonna feel a lot like a play bike (with a ton of top end yank) after coming off what you already have..

I don’t get the weight correlation other than power to weight ratio. I’ve had my ass kicked by bigger guys on smaller bikes. It’s skill and technique.

When I first moved to A class I lined up and looked down the line and of about 20 racers I saw one that went about 240-250 and I thought “ hell at least I’ve got his fat ass covered”. I did out start him and maybe 5 others but before the first lap finished the fat one blew by me like I was tied to tree.

Today’s 250f will be plenty of engine for you and you’ll have a blast on the bike.

I’ll say it over and over, 250Fs are the perfect bike for the majority of people. The Yamaha is making as much HP as stock 250s used to make. But it’s super easy to ride.

Jut sold my 250f after a year on it, getting another 250sx. It gets annoying being faster than certain riders in the +25 and +30 but getting beat because they’re on 450’s.

However, I have had no days where I didn’t have a blast riding, and I was pretty safe the entire year. Had some small crashes that resulted in shoulder damage, but no concussions or anything. I race 4 classes at local races, but can do the same on a 250 SX and have more HP, and 2 strokes are just fun!
