I have a 2015 CRF 250R (yes i know not the fastest) and I want to go to th dunes. I dont have a lot of money though and i need a New back tire , not badly but it would be really nice considering i ride 99%track and trail and 1%dunes.

I just dont know if i should buy a paddle, or a new sand/soft dirt rear tire. I know its gonna be bad riding dune on a 250f with no paddle if i dont get one

Rock it without the paddle. It'll save you some cash and the high-fives will be overwhelming. Stay on it and stay on top of the sand!

If you do go paddle, make sure it's a skinny six paddle version. Anything bigger really pulls the bike down, the smaller six paddle will allow it to keep on top of the sand more, instead of digging down too much.

Paddle makes the bike more fun (lift the front tire up in all 5 gears). But you can certainly do everything at Silver Lake without one.

Run super low PSI in the dunes if you go with a knobby.... like 8 or 9 psi. Just enough to keep the bead on.

When you hit a truck or quad head on it wont matter what tire you are running. Save your money and go out in a 4x4 truck to enjoy it. That place is always stupid packed and sketchy.

I agree...We went out in June for a Friday/Saturday. Friday= fun (not too many people). Saturday= death wish, I think I only rode for a couple minutes. I had more fun in our Wrangler with my wife and two kids than on the bike.

I've rode little Sahara in Ok before on a 250f and no paddle tire. It was fun and really not that bad. But I also love riding in the sand.
