Bike would quit as soon as I let of the gas.that's why I am asking questions just trying to learn
Tom Morgan recommended this as well, good to have him confirm this on my latest engine.
When did idling become a thing. Motocross bikes never used to have any idle set.
I’d like to be in control of whether power is being applied, not my bike.
1) hand behind silencer to create increase in back pressure, blip (2x)
2) shake head, left to right, (3x)
3) check fuel petcock (1x)
2) repeat 2
4) check fuel petcock (1x)
5) holeshot
Only took one OTB and broken radius/ulna to drill that one in my head lmao

I think they even oil the filter here in FL/GA.
I've had a YZ for years with the same Keihin carb the OP has. The idle screw works if you turn it. As BVM noted, read your manual.

Why wouldn’t I want a machine that idles nicely?
If the carb is tuned properly it should idle without to much sputtering and shaking at a nice low constant RPM.
I don’t want my bike dying if I come in too hot in a corner and grabbing all kinds of brake and clutch to get stopped.
I don’t want a stalled bike costing me positions in a race.
I don’t want to kick the fugger anymore than I have to.
Does a bike that dies idling rough and gnarly shaking the hell out of the levers mean it’s a race bike? Means it hauls ass?
