250 SX East

Hunter would have to be sitting out whole SX series right? They wouldn't throw him to the wolves with a few rounds left and knock his confidence before outdoors?

Go J-Mart! Would be over the moon to see him riding at the levels he was getting to in 2018 SX.
Marty D did it for about 4 years straight. People will get over easily. They think he is a god for putting down a fast lap in the 450 class.

Good Luck Jerry and to ML. The fewer gray hair after Vegas on ML's head the better. Cool

If he can get on the podium for a single race that would be a great achievement. I don't think anyone expects him to challenge for wins let alone the title.
Make no mistake he's fast indoors. But I don't think he's quite at the level of a Sexton or a McElrath - at least not yet

hands down Chase. it's his time to shine, last year showed his resolve when everyone counted him out those who know him, know. it aint over til it's over.

he has some experience now, and understand what it takes.

he is the dude to beat. and well I am bias as hell too so there is that.

Or point out a hope he can find a somewhat decent 450 ride and if he does he’d probably be riding for free? I think he made the right choice by choosing a factory ride and a salary.
Sorry I may not have worded it as well as I should. I'm more alluding to the fact that TLD KTM pulled him/covered for him with the back issue as he was sliding out of the title fight (likely with a genuine back issue), so as to give him another shot at the title next year, for them. Instead, he's jumped ship to Star.

Sexton got lucky as hell to miss 250 West. With as weak a field as he’ll be facing in the East, he ought to dominate this series with ease. Even with years of experience, none of his competitors has ever been thought of as a legit title contender in the past.

Anyone that seen what the forkner was doing (crashing hard every race) knew it was a matter of time, i don't care how tough ya are eventually one of those will bite ya and put you out. He never seemed to "get it" last season. So "Sexton got lucky" wouldn't be what i would describe what happened.

My thought would be "Sexton, rode smart and was there to race every race, and won like a true champion would"

just another opinion.

IF he rides like he did last year Chase will be in the hunt if not winning quite a bit. But thats' why they put on races, I hope he can repeat and go on to 450's on the high note.

Are you nuts? We have:
Sexton, the defending champion
Jmart, the 2 time 250 outdoor champion
Smith and McElrath, both who have been title threats for a few years, now on the 2 most capable bikes
RJ Hampshire, who is now on the Aldon program

If "fans" have difficulties to keep up with the West & East championships, it is time to upgrade the education system instead of the suspensions Laughing

Sexton, Smith, McElrath and JMartin can give a run to the top 3 on the west. Probably not outdoors (except JMart), but indoors they are also really fast. And like on the West, there are also very interesting riders to look for.

If you just need 1 star, go for Sexton. He will be the youngest 450 rider since a long time, going straight to HRC, and based on his style and how he evolves, i think you just found a great horse to cheer for a good decade !

As mentioned earlier, Nichols is not going to make the first few rounds. He had a big shoulder surgery in the autumn and he hasn't even started riding.

My money is on smith, last year he wasn’t too far off of Forkner before he got hurt. everyone else is too inconsistent. The only time I’ve seen Jordan be inconsistent is because of injuries which obviously could happen again, but assuming they’re all healthy I think he is the best rider indoors.

I feel like people are discounting the fact he went to Vegas with the points lead in 2017. He crashed and thew the title away that night... I see him, Mcelrath, or Sexton winning the title and maybe 4 races winners in total.

He kinda lost a title due to the DNF on said KTM if I remember correctly.
Yeah there is some truth to that, in 2017. Went back to the RacerX Vault for a refresher. He took a 22nd at Arlington that night. He ended up 38 points behind Justin Hill that season, not helped by a lacklustre 11th in the shootout in Vegas (he might have been in the first turn crash with Osborne I think). Even as good as he was in 2017, that was the greatest 9 run stretch of Justin Hill's career and it just happened to coincide with the start and end of that West Coast season so I think Shane would have had a hard time beating him, but it would have been tight.

Hill's 2017 was pretty incredible: 5, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 2
