21' vs 20' Tc

8/25/2020 1:40pm
Im in the market for a Tc125 and have found a couple near me. One is a 2020 demo bike with 6hrs on it for $7000. The other one is a 2021 thats brand new for $7400. Im wondering if the suspension updates (10mm lowering/other little stuff) is worth the $400.

Thanks

For $400 that is a no-brainer for me. Especially with 2 strokes I would say the extra money is worth it alone for having a freshie and you'll make it back at re-sale with the better model year too

I'm pretty sure the updates to the fork, alone, are worth $400...to me!

Plus the throttle housing now has an internal pulley wheel that helps with cable life. I have a pair of '21 ktm's 150 and 250 sx. I'm liking the new suspension it feels just as plush as my 06 yz's.
My first real ride on them was s couple weeks ago at washougal practice day. I rode the 150 it soaked up all of the square edges and chop excellently.

If the tc150 is jetted like my ktm was its rich off the pilot to the needle transition. Drop the pilot one size and raise the needle one clip to number two position. Stock my 150 had a rich burble and wouldn't clean out. Once i did the minor jetting change it was perfect. Even better when I got rid of the pump gas and put trick 100 octane in it.

I have the 2021 TC125. Good point about the new throttle housing. Another random note that may be of interest to someone, the new throttle housing and stock cable work with a Keihin PWK carb without mods or buying an aftermarket housing. This was not possible with the old throttle

On the jetting, there is a large thread in the Tech Help forum here on Vital dedicated to the jetting of these bikes. Digger and AJ565 have led the charge on substantial changes to the Mikuni and many others have tried their settings and posted results and info. I tried 1 ride with the jetting you used and 100 octane race fuel and it was pretty good. I am now trying the Jetting from the Vital thread. I have 1 day on it and it is a very good starting point that seems will only need very minor tweaks to account for location/conditions/fuel, etc.
