It's that time of year! The 2023 Yamaha press release is right around the corner.

What are you guys predicting for this year?

I'm thinking it will be an all new model for the 450. Or at least some significant changes.

Look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!

I'm wondering if there's enough demand / potential for them to update the YZ250 2 Stroke engine.

Plenty good as it is, but a similar refinement / redesign like the 125 got last year could be cool.

I'm curious if they will update the 250X to the '22 YZ bodywork. I've got a '21 X and I'd be tempted to upgrade if they did.

Holding off on pulling the trigger on a 22 125x to see if the 23’s are updated.

Last week I read on Enduro21 - https://enduro21.com/en/bikes/latest/pro-bike-davide-guarneri-s-fantic-… - an article on Davide Guarneri's Fantic XE300.

This current Guarneri 300 has Fantics own barrel etc.

In it, they mentioned the Minarelli EFI, E Start 300cc engine. That, in the link back to the engines debut at EICMA, was said to be intended for production in 2024. Minarelli is owned by Yamaha (and, the article said also by Fantic ) for quite a few years now.

Yamaha this year, finally brought out a new 125 engine, after the 2005 and onwards design, so, it would be wonderful to see them bring out a new 250 /300 2t engine unit. The Minarelli engine clearly has, as its starting basis, a YZ engine.

Perhaps Fantic will have first use of the engine, but surely Yamaha would want it, eventually. So, not 2023, but, hopefully after it?

Can they fix the transmission finally?

Tank, Airbox, Subframe, Plastics, and the Fuel Line(tank to carb) will convert your bike to the 22 YZ bodywork

Well Tomac said the bike for next year is the same/similar so I wouldn’t expect a new generation.

Cost prohibitive to do so, though.

450 is 100% all new. Even people in the know at Yamaha are in the dark of the changes but have been told the bike is all new.

He wouldn’t sign for 23 til he had rode the new bike. So who knows.

I wonder if the 125x will get the new motor or the bodywork.

On one hand buyers like new stuff, but there's an argument to be made that the old stuff is still better for trails, more bottom end in the old motor.

wouldn’t we see spy photos by now if it were truly all new?

We didn't see any spy photos of the new 125 either before they released it.

Yes but that’s not the flagship model so don’t expect it as much for the two strokes. Even the 2010 model that changed so drastically, they kept it under tight wraps but at least a few clues had emerged early on. Well anyway, here’s to the suspense. Can’t wait to see the 23.

It's a real mystery why they haven't upgraded the 2-strokes to the latest swingarm-linkage-rear wheel set-up.

Remember the Stark Varg that dropped a few months ago, they kept is 100% secret, we didn't see that coming at all... Nothing from Triumph either.... sure the test mules are all over the place, no one's seen one (photographed)

Keefer mentioned on his podcast that it won't be until August for the 2023 Yamaha announcements!

They are usually always in June but they seem to have something cooking for this year (450).

They’re going to split the difference and turn the head sideways this year to make everyone happy.

Called Yamaha dealer today just to ask if he knows when new YZ450F coming but he said nothing until world wide release. Are dealers in other countries taking reservations yet?

It looks like we may have to wait until August unfortunately.
