Hey guys,
Considering these two bikes. Dealer tells me October for the 250SX and December for the 300SX. I know in the initial test of the pre-production units some of the testers said there were some issues with the 250SX but that the 300SX was running perfectly.
Has anyone heard any updates on the 250SX and whether KTM had sorted the mapping issues?
Which model would you choose? Curios on everyone's thoughts.
AS a side note, i am also considering the 450SXF.
Thanks

That’s a new one… hope your dealer is wrong, that’ll really suck to have to wait that long.

Who brought the bike out to Pala ?
Any new updates on this topic. Not a lot of info about the new 250sx.
What kind of info are you looking for? They have been talked about, I have one..
How to you like the 250sx. I’m not sure which one i want to get. The 250 or 300sx.
We have both. I run the 300 and the boy runs the 250. He has the KYB spring conversion on his. Both bikes are around 35 hours and have been flawless. It is amazing how much easier the 250 is to layover in corners. The KYB may contribute to it but think the rotating mas of the 300 affects it. The 300 is a powerhouse and can be luggable. If i had to pick between the 2 for moto... i don't know which i would take. 250 has nimble fun factor and more of a wide open 125 feel.
Here is my Video Review of the bike . I went with the 250XC and love it. I've also done a video on the Suspension settings I use for moto and they really make a positive difference! See both videos below.
Interesting observations. Good to know. Do us a favor and put your sons forks on your bike and report back lol

I want to get a YZ250. My buddy just got a KTM300SX and he says its like buying a modded 250. Really wishing Yamaha would come out with a 300cc.
haha...We have, the 250 is still more compliant. But i am 200lb vet and he 160lb A.. not exactly apples to apples when we swap. I am sending my components out this winter and will be ready for the spring. He prefers the 250 because of the handling.
See my video above where I walk through the suggested settings on the 250 or 300XC for Moto. The clickers make a decent difference with this bike if you take the time to test enough and get them right.
Hope that helps.
Dear Vital MX, please post a dyno overlay of each of the following bikes dynoed by the same dyno machine, same years bikes, same day, same butt on each seat in the dyno room: ktm 250SXF, 250SX, 350SXF, 300SX, 450SXF.
The most useful dyno of seen on this topc was the overlay they put out for 2023 300SX vs the 2022 350 and 450SXF. We need to see the rest (esp. the 250sx), same day, same ambient temp, same bunz on the seats… plz and thx. 🤓👍
And if you do all those bikes, might as well add the EFI 125SX to that dyno mix.
This sort of thing tends to matter more to mid to small sized vet riders that are getting old, race open classes, and don’t want to push a massive 450 into the back of their truck every weekend. The kind of vet riders that injure themselves more often by pulling a muscle putting on their gear, or loading the dirt bike in the truck, than they actually do riding the @#%$ things. 🤣
I’d rather load a 300SX into the truck than a 450SXF all day long. And on a weekend race series that has a double header both day races, when you're already sore on day 2, it’s already tempting to just leave the 450 at home and roll a 125 in the van and not care where you finish in the open vet class as long as you can finish day 2 without a muscle strain…
😆👍
And never mind rolling the dice while picking the thing up if you ever dropper in a corner. It’s a real factor for older vet riders that can still “ride” just fine, but might have quirky back issues when they go to put their moto socks on. 🤡
One last thought, how hard would it be to convert your 2023 250SX into a 300SX (part compatibility??)? Diff. ECU? If you can do that, could you put the same 300SX parts on your TC250 or MC250 and convert them to a TC300 or MC300?
KTM is showing a 250 to 300 conversion kit but I don't think it is in stock yet. It does not include a mandatory ECU reflash.
The stock bikes run poorly enough as is, i wouldn’t try unless you get the 300’s ECU.
It’ll be interesting if they get kits set up. Because if some one doesn’t like their 300, then it seems like they could just re-map it and put a 250 top end on and switch back and forth as they please… Once the mapping gets sorted out and liberated.
Has any one tried the Bills Pipes full system on the 250 or 300sx.
I have heard it clears it out a little better, increases bottom end response and opens op a little more over rev on the 300sx (per Swap Moto review). But I am wondering if they tried it on both the green and white mapping. I’m guessing they only tested it on green map.
I’d be interested in something that cleans up the white map. 🤔
The white map only allows the pv to open 80%..
The maps were posted on KTM talk and both maps go to 100% at full throttle. The Green map goes to 100% with less throttle opening.
