Say your dealer is awesome like mine, they are both on the floor and you get to pick.
Which one and why?

Can’t go wrong either way.

I’ve got 30 hours on my ‘21 Kawi, and have spent some time on a 21’ Honda.

Pros and cons to both. I do prefer the Kawi, suspension revalve, mapping and a pipe was all it took to turn it into a race machine.

Enjoy whatever you choose!

I didn't realize the 22's were out already? I'd buy both if possible. But if you can only take one then how do you not take the Honda?

Kawi should be cheaper. Kawi also worth less on resale.
Money for upkeep, and mods also. So much depends on 'you'.

Honda chassis feedback up front. Kawi chassis feedback middle of bike. Both motors good. Both bikes reliable

I have had both bikes in the last few years 18 Honda 450 and 19 - 20 - 21 KX 450 the KX is by far the better all-around bike. It handles amazing - ergos are amazing - Sits in the corners and has great linear power. The bike is just downright amazing..

Honda blows the kawi away in fit and finish, attention to detail high quality. But out on the track give me the kawi.

Keep in mind that the 22 KX is probably the last of this generation. The 23 should be all new if they stick to their normal model cycle.

If you're planning on keeping the bike for more than a year, i would get the Honda that wont see any major updates in the coming years.

Go green.
That said, I'm massively biased. Love my Kawasaki!

This. The Honda is a beautiful bike, but if your goal is to win second motos on a bombed out track, Kawasaki is the choice. I went from a 2017 Honda to a 2019 Kaw and I couldn’t be happier. The added stability though the rough stuff gives me so much more confidence.

I am just getting off a 2016 Ktm 250xc.
I won quite a few hare scrambles on it and 30+ Vet moto here and there.
I pulled hole shots consistently on that orange beast.
The forks. Ugh. The worst I ever rode. Period.
Sent to multiple places and it only became mediocre at best.
My hope is I can hop on either of these two and be better than that out of the gate.
In reality I should be probably looking at an off-road version but I don’t need the extremely low first gears or a larger tank honestly. So the only real benefit to me buying an x model would be a kickstand and the 18”rear.
The rear wheel I can do myself but the kicker really isn’t an issue In Louisiana. We got trees everywhere not like the desert.
So either way I go I don’t think I can loose.

Completely accurate! I always dislike when Kawasaki has the best bike because i know i'm going to be dealing with the minor frustrations of owning their bikes. The current bike Kawi is easier to ride fast IMO.

The 450 off-road bikes usually share a transmission with the Mx versions. The Kx450x has the Mx transmission and fuel tank. Suspension is valved a little softer too.

I don’t care for the Honda factory big tanks because they make the bike a lot wider at the knees.

Historically the kx has always made a good closed course off-road racing bike. That new honda is nice though.. either way it's a good choice.

Either way you will be good to go once you set up the suspension to your weight and skill level.

Honda to look at, Kawi to ride. The new Hondas are the best looking bikes imo, but they are just not as comfortable to go fast on as the Kawi. I have a 20 KX and it's so easy to ride in stock form. The suspension is great stock too. I'm 6ft 4 185, and move the pegs down and clamps forward and it feels perfect. Usually do mx only but did some off road last week and it was great, even through the woods in 1st gear. Best handling 450 I've had in 18 years of riding

This made me laugh, but Kawi is more rear bias, Honda front
