Have any of you had the stock ecu remapped on a 2022 350sxf? Results?

You can’t, it’s locked from the factory and have to buy a new aftermarket one to tune per twisted development. I called and asked. Any used vortex from everything except Yamaha will fit it tho if you can find one. I’m not for sure on the years tho.

The vortex is well worth the money over an exhaust, it’s a game changer!

Curious… what exactly does it do? I can’t imagine these bikes getting any better…

I have a 21 KTM 350 and mine was done by XPR and on the handle bar map one is their “cleaned up” oem map. It is super smooth down low and picks up through the midrange quickly through the top end that just pulls… it’s a fun map on my last moto. I have map two on the bar is position 3 on the vortex and their “good map” which increases torque and power down low through a fat midrange hit and slightly less over rev, I’m 48 yo at 225 pounds with most of my weight in the shoulders and torso (my brother would say my head too) and in map two it will pull the front wheel up out of most corners with my head squarely over the front crossbar. I tend to keep my corner speed up at entry and it will pull third no problem with a 14/51 gear ratio. I am/was a 450 guy and this thing pulls harder and is easier to ride than my 20.5 FE 450 compared back to back with the OEM ECU on the 350.

Dammit. You just posted the thousand dollar post.
I was on the fence about an ignition for my new 350, but now it looks like I'm gonna be thousand dollars poorer.

I thought boat meant 'break out another thousand', not dirt bikes!

There’s a bunch of threads on here about Vortex ECU from Twisted and XRP, all with positive reviews.

The stock mapping is getting better and better, but the attention to detail that Twisted and XRP put into the mapping will always go above and beyond what an OEM can put out. Just the number of data points that the Vortex offers will always make the bike feel more crisp. If I remember correct, for example stock has like 75 data points and vortex is like 750. Once I saw that, you realize it’s no a brainer.

Ok, I understand better now… so you are buying the ECU but really buying their setup knowledge and dyno time .. So when you contact them to buy, they must need to know, fuel type, exhaust pipe, elevation, rider skill level ect… to preset the maps that would work for said buyer?

Correct. Its kinda like Suspension tuning. You tell them what you are looking for and they can give you different maps to achieve different motor characteristics.

I do and don’t think an aftermarket will do anything other than look “cool” … to be fair i haven’t tested one either, but, I don’t think i’ll gain anything more with one.

I have a Vortex for a 350 mapped by Twisted Development. It was on my KTM and it's going on my GasGas here shortly. The best way to describe it is like having perfectly crisp jetting. The throttle response is much improved. It's not like a huge difference in power, just a much cleaner feel. Mine is mapped for a stock bike with stock exhaust and like bvm111 said, an aftermarket exhaust probably won't make a huge difference. You can still put one on even if you get it mapped for a stock exhaust, its just that it may not be mapped to its full potential. I literally just called Twisted yesterday and asked them and that was their answer. Also, you can switch between pump gas and VP T4 or make small changes if you want to run a different fuel.

I've got a vortex with twisted maps for the19 thru 22fc450 sat gathering dust. The bike is all stock and I like the way it runs, nice and smooth. The vortex mapping is unreal, the bike is so clean, crisp and responsive in any gear... its just to much for me LOL.

Wad thinking of selling, then heard about the new ones being locked.

Just don’t let Tokyo mods touch it, much better straight from vortex.

I put a Vortex on mine and it runs about 10-15 degrees cooler than my dads bike. There are plenty of variables in that diagnosis but it does seem to start easier, rev quicker and cleaner.

Do a Nihilo timing chain tensioner while you're at it.

Yep, I bought the twisted vortex to see if it was real and it's crazy compared to stock... most noticeable mod over anything I've seen.

My next bike will probably be another ktm, but now they are locked I can carry over with a remap if the first year bike doesnt run well. I just remember that new Honda had funky mapping when new once?

Mine came stock with fmf, the oem silencer is better imo, it runs better, bought one used to try since fmf soon looks ratty. With vortex and oem pipe is much more power than stock ign and $700 slip on fmf 4.1 ti.

One of my best examples of ECU mapping was at Mammoth MX. Twisted was there doing mapping, Jamie put in a map for the elevation(9,000ft) and reduced engine braking. The new map free’d up of the tension of the bike so much off throttle that I was able to go stiffer on suspension and still felt more comfortable on the chunky downhill.

If possible it’s best to ride the ECU/maps back to back for a better comparison. I’m getting better with feeling different changes but I’ve had a friend try the ECU on his bike and he didn’t really notice much. Just depends what your end goal is and if your into this type of stuff.
