Guys,
My son is getting a sweet deal on a new 2022 KX250. How have these bikes been doing out there? Reliability issues?

Give me some feedback if you get a moment.....

On a side note: Deegan/ Walker/ claiming rule.

I know the 20/21's have had their issues and related recalls. Every local kid that got one here had issues with their 20/21's. I haven't heard anything negative about the 22's so I could be convinced that Kawi got their $#!% together to produce a reliable 250. However, I have no personal experience so hopefully someone with some can tag on below. With the price tag on the leftover 22's I'd be interested too! Good luck!

Side note: have the young buck qualify for B class and claim Difrancesco's Kx... 4 hours of fun... then... KABOOM

My son just got back from Loretta's and has been racing a 21 and 22 KX250 for the last year and a half. Extremely reliable. Not one mechanical issue. Both stock. Even races the stock bike in the mod class. Note: he also races a KX450SR, but loves his 250.

He has had several YZ250F's since 2017 and the reason we switched was the lack of reliability. Went through a few timing chains on the Yamaha that grenaded the motor. Started changing them every 15 hours.

We are replacing top ends on the KX250 around 70 hours and looking pretty good.

I have a 22 with about 4 hours on it at a VET D class ability. Super reliable!

The deal that Kawasaki has going right now on the 22 250s is probably the best bang for buck out there . My kid has a 21 and has had the recall done . It has been rock solid and that bike is a rocket

I have a 22 and have put a decent amount of hours on it. The only issue I’ve had was that it was boiling coolant and that was an easy fix (higher pressure radiator cap) Other than that, no issues whatsoever.

I have '21 and the only issue I've had is that sometimes it takes more than 1 button press to get it started.

Have you checked your valve clearance lately? Tight valves can cause that I’ve heard.

It only has 12 hours on it! I have a FMF silencer and that's it (running VP T4 only). Ever since new sometimes the first button press it doesn't go. Not sure what it could be. I might try getting a new spark plug soon. It's like 1/10 starts it does it.

Keefer's kid pulled the top off the valves at 70 hours, but he is a B kid so probably faster than most. Local pro class hare scramble racer here blew up a 2022 in the first 6 months they were out. He has not managed to blow up a Gasgas yet. So they seem hit and miss.

You always need to push the start button first without starting it for pressuring the fuel pomp. It always start second push :-) If not check valves
