Do you think when Japanese riders see English letters on their Hondas, that they think it is as sexy as when we see Japanese writing on them?

Oh yes, the Japanese have quite the love affair with proficient use of English !

In the last pulp show Keefer said something early like "Jett and Hunter should be on a wayyyyy better bike next year" I cannot remember exactly what he said, but it was close to that. I think If I can remember correctly, Keefer did a fair amount of testing for Honda when the current 2021 450 was in the prototype/development stage.

Would be so cool to see Jett or Hunter ride the new bike in the outdoors. Has anyone done that since Langston in 2005? Seems like it's been awhile.

That’s pretty much confirming it then. Would be cool to see them switch to it outdoors.

I know the Aussie Honda MX team stopped ordering 21' parts a long time ago & weren't restocking.

I'd say for a reason.

Yeah just listened to Keefer say Jett is one of his picks for 2022 SX “because I think he’s going to have a better bike next year”. The way he said it was super suggestive too haha. So unless Jett is going to Yamaha, the 2022 CRF250 will be new.

They did that with the 450 because they messed it up for 2021. All they had to do is change the springs and the map and release it early as a 2022. So they just put out a press release with the same picture.

This is not as easy to do with a brand new bike, which they are probably still finalizing. No reason to do them at the same time.
Sorry -- by "re-hashed" I meant "BNG" and basically the same bike as 2021. I think we are on the same page here as far as thinking this shows a good chance it will be a new bike for '22!

Ahhh you make a great point!

Yeah all signs point to new Honda.

Yeah that is a good point. I think we’ll see something within the next few weeks as well.

My predictions,
Same bodywork and frame as the 450 which is fairly obvious,
Hydraulic clutch,
Same DOHC engine they introduced last refresh,
Dual exhaust port like 2018-2021,
Controversially a dual exhaust.

I say dual exhaust because of the development they’ve put into it last generation with the DOHC and dual exhaust port but, the more I think about it the more I think it will follow 450.

And the way the air box and air filter is on the 450 it would not work with dual exhaust so I’m 75% sure dual exhaust will go.

The engine needs a new head to go single exhaust and to make a better power curve.

Yeah I don't think the body work and airbox are compatible with dual exhaust. I would not really be surprised if we basically see a 250cc version of the 450. I agree a hydraulic clutch seems possible.

Haha I love how you predict dual exhaust and then convince yourself otherwise by the end of the post. I don’t think dual exhaust works with the new frame either because I believe the 459 went to a center port exhaust not offset so the frame cradle had to be designed that way.

The dual exhaust is dumb anyway, hope they ditch it.

Yeah they want to drop weight and increase bottom. The duals are gone if it’s a new bike.

I might be in the minority here but the 18-21 CRF250 was one of the best looking bikes ever made. I bet the 21 is lightyears ahead of the 18 with reliability and power. I wonder if they are staying with the dual cams for 22.

21 lightyears? No. Better, yes. Between my buddy and I we currently have 18', 19', and '20 (same as '21) in our stable. The 20 has a different feel chassis wise, but not better. Transmission ratios are improved over the 18 and 19. The 18 is a finicky starting SOB, and will be for sale. lol

They will be able to drop at least 4 lbs going to one can. Stick with the DOHC, revs faster the SOHC and they dont have to scrap EVERYTHING.

Haha yeah.. at first I was thinking they’d keep the dual exhaust but then the more I thought about it I realised the air box design would not work with a exhaust silencer/muffler in the way. The battery position would also be a problem.. I’m pretty sure Honda are done with the dual exhaust now tbh..

I’m glad they got rid of it on the 450 and I personally think the bike looks great.. I love it.

I think it will be exactly like the 450, Honda has never strayed from that path, the 250 always follows the 450 with same design package...the only difference is the twin cam of the 250

Best is subjective but after riding everything but a Zuk my 250b kid chose Hondas. Easier to find power than fix handling. We just bought a couple used ones until the '22's come out though..........

How can they drop the dual exhaust. Thought that was for weight centralization 😂

All about mass centralisation for bike control. I think if they get rid of it they will change what they are focusing on.

Like the 450 instead of mass centralisation they focused on really narrowing the bike, making it nice and slim to improve handling and removing one of the exhaust mufflers/silencers helps with that.

So they should focus on power with the engine and handling with the single exhaust and new frame/bodywork.

Yeah power is king in the 250 class. So long as they can get close to the Yamaha and keep the handling awesome, it will be a great bike.

Does anyone fancy photoshopping the DOHC 250 engine into the 2021 450 chassis so I can drool over the new 250?

I found this image on dirt bike magazine website. Poor attempt when you look at the clutch cover but it is a good representation of what it could look like I think.

Probably mid June. That’s when they did the 2021 450.

The current 450 is one of the most visually appealing new bikes. It would be awesome to see the new 250 come out with that style. I'd consider buying a 2022 250x if it is included in the update.

On "Main Event Moto" they talked about Jett's bike being totally new next year, new motor, new chassis, just like the 450.
