Everyone STFU about orange bikes.

It’s cool they shed some weight I can’t wait to ride it. I’m also glad they seemed to make it a bit more stable. It seems like the motor and chassis might be in the sweet spot.

Bit of a non sequitor; But I don’t understand why people even consider the stock tires on a new bike/truck/etc.. They’re a wear item and largely based on personal preference, if you know they’ll be replaced does it really matter all that much?

I’m a little surprised the manufacturers don’t just find the lightest tires so they can advertise the lowest weight unless most consumers don’t care what it weighs…

Since we are spec racing.....
My 08 CRF 2 fiddy comes in at 227 and 43 hp according to google that is....
Any ways this new 22 has some pretty key features for me.
Fatty button ( electric start ) and New bike smell !

What you will find is google show the same HP for all years of the same model. Typically the listed HP is from the current of recent years.

'08 43HP, NO WAY.

Yeah i had a -09 aswell, when it finally started it ripped, and they still do, id actually like to get one of the last carb’d 250f’s and ride/restore.

Hearing the bark from a carb bike beats the FI all day

According to Dirt Rider the '09 put 28HP to the roller.

It must have been an '83 RM250 or your riding was the problem, lol.

Nope, two guys the same speed , anything but super deep sand and it was a battle.

that honda was the second most powerful 250f with a pretty solid spread. I rode the thing more than a handful of times. Numbers aside, it worked .

Just watched the swap moto intro. 8900 MSRP for a freaking jap 250f.

I can respect the engineering and tech that goes into these new bikes, but damn.

Excited to see the reviews and opinions on this thing. I considered waiting for the Honda, knowing it was coming but stuck to what I know and got the YZF. I can see the Honda being a consistent top 2 bike in the shootouts, if the motor is versatile. I think it'll have the best ergos, cornering/chassis. I doubt the suspension will be better than the YZF but maybe right up there with it. So the rest just depends on this new motor. Either way, they are certainly going in the right direction. Duals was terrible and it was so annoying that it took so long for them to realize that. The bike looks-wise is probably the best too, as a bonus. If I were shopping it would immediately be in my top 3 with the YZF and KX.

Only $100 more than the Suzuki. Cheapest e start 250 by a couple hundred. If I remember correctly in last years shoot outs a couple of places said the engine was the only thing holding it back from contending for the win.

As Swap said, MSRP for the bike about on par with mid-range road/mountain bikes.

I was honestly impressed they made all those changes and kept the price down. If you include their listed fright, Honda is $8499. The Yamaha is $9129.

I can't wait to read the ride reviews that should start trickling out. It really seems like they did everything right to make it a well rounded bike; for me, there are the important things they did, in order

1) more rid-range pull by emulating the straight shot of the Yamaha and going to a single muffler.
2) stronger clutch, better cooling, other durability improvements like the transmission
3) weight savings
4) a slightly softer frame for increased stability; it will be hard to beat the stability and suspension on the Yamaha, and everything loved the handling on the 21 Honda, but a bit more stability is welcome. I hope it still turns as well, though.

Unless there is some major flaw, I am going to sell my YZ250F and get the CRF250R.

Yeah maybe. I didn't like that bike at all and I'm a long time Honda guy. Hard to start, sluggish and very unreliable. Also ended up blowing up the bottom end. I guess the ergonomics were okay. It was owned by one of the mx vacation companies out here before I had it and I don't think they took very good care of it.
