I've got a chance to pick up a 2021 MC450 with only a handful of hours on it and was looking for thoughts on them from those that currently or have previously owned one. I'm currently riding a KTM 450SXF and I have heard several times that the GasGas has it's own characteristics so just looking for some input. Thanks

I love mine. It's just a red ktm with a husky swing arm and no map switch. Factory valving is a little softer but most people change that anyway.

Clamps are supposed to be a little more forgiving than the oem ktms. but i'm not sure I could tell a difference. I would have to a/b them.

The plugs for map switch are there. You can buy the map switch and plug it in and have the 2 maps and all the same features as the ktm.

At my skill level, I hopped off my 2021 KTM 350 SX-F to take a spin on my brother's MC450 and hit all my normal jumps and lines the first lap. I know this isn't the greatest feedback, but the two platforms are very similar and I think you'll feel right at home in a very short period of time.

my 21 MC450 has 10 hours on it now, fantastic bike (moved from 16 Husky 350).

cast triple clamps feel better to me than the billets on the Husky, power is very smooth (maybe look at the map switch if you like harder hitting feel). Stock Maxxis tyres are average though, changed mine to Dunlop Mx33.

I have a 2022 which is the same as the '21. Really like it so far after 8hrs.

Pros:
Nimble & predictable
Power delivery is smooth and useable
Well balanced suspension

Cons:
Maxxis tires - good in soft/loamy/tacky conditions, poor everywhere else
Constantly chasing rear wheel spoke tension
Have to buy the handlebar map switch aftermarket to enable TC, Map1/2, or LC

What year KTM are you coming off of?

Thanks everyone for all the feedback! I'm on an 18 Ktm 450 right now and really really like it but I think I may give the GasGas a shot I'll change the triple clamps (or may leave them if they have more flex I like that) and the wheelset and probably buy the map switch, overall it sounds like a great bike.
