2020 yz250f oil change question

so I changed the oil and filter and when I loosened the oil check bolt, instead of the oil seaping out as it normally does after 10-15 seconds this time it puked out a fairly large amount of oil the second the bolt was backed out enough.

this has never happened before, the sight window does show that the oil level is within the normal range however, so i'm confused, has this ever happened to anyone else?

Oil check bolt? Didn’t know we had one. I just put in the correct amount and check the sight glass.

Oil check bolt on a current yz250f? I've never seen one on my '19. Isn't that what the sight glass is for?

I think he’s probably talking about the bolt the manual tells you to losen when you first start up after an oil change to bleed air out of the system

I’m pretty sure there is a reason they tell you to do it, but it’s not to check the oil level. I’ve never experienced the issue you saw, just oil seeping out a minute or so after starting-sorry can’t be of more help

Yup just make sure your bike stands level and straight and then check the sight glass

That’s the oil pressure check bolt. You should be fine. Maybe you just filled it a bit high and the pressure was high or you didn’t loosen the bolt enough and pressure built up.

I’ve never checked the pressure on mine, but I’m only at 30 hours. Probably a good thing to do regularly, but I don’t think it’s required with an oil change. Correct me if I’m wrong!
