Was thinking about grabbing one but wanted to check in with you guys that own one.
Was looking for impressions, likes, dislikes, useful mods blah blah blah.

TIA

Bike needs a taller seat, twin air filter, gas, oil, and set the clickers. That's about it.

Oh and move the bars back in the triple clamp mounts.

I am a Honda guy till the end, but I hopped on my buddies bone stock 2020 and was seriously impressed. It absolutely rails ruts and feels glued to the ground. The power delivery was exceptional and the wifi mapping is cool as hell. If I didn't have a 2021 CRF450 coming in any day now, this bike would be in my garage.

Best bike I’ve ever had hands down. 30 hours and not a single problem.

Love mine, get the no toil superflow kit cause the stock filter setup is garbage, put a 14t front sprocket on, and run the Preston map. Maybe throw a muffler on if you wanna get really wild. Thing is great.

I came off a 2018 Honda CRF450 and recently bought a 2020 YZ450 and it is the best bike I've ever ridden, hands down. I was worried it was going to feel a bit big and heavy, I'm 5'7" and about 175. The bike feels just as light as my Honda, handles WAY better - more planted, easier to go fast on and I don't get as tired on it. The cornering is awesome as well. There is only one area where I felt the Honda was a little better, and that was trying to turn down or cut down sharply in flat corners. The Honda would turn on the front wheel and just carve up the corner. The YZ won't quite do that - it doesn't really push or wash out, it just doesn't want to turn quite as sharp. Now, that being said what I have noticed is that if I try to take a more "flat track" style approach to those turns and sort of rear wheel steer it through those corners it works better than the Honda because it's more planted, if that makes sense. And even in those types of corners, the difference isn't huge, it's not like the YZ sucks in those corners, it's just not quite as good as the Honda. Also I use a LitPro and every track that I have data on I've been faster on my YZ than my Honda - with my best laps sometimes being 4 or 5 seconds better than they were on my Honda! My YZ is bone stock except for the TP 3.0 map, moving the handlebars and changing some clickers. The YZ is amazing and lives up to all the hype IMO.

Mine has been very dependable at 35 hours. I put a tall seat and bars on the bike and have left it stock. I have not had as much as a loose spoke. Motor is phenominal....suspension is good...clutch/ brakes are good. Ergos are only and issue in the pits. You can't go wrong buying this bike. If i raced stadium style tracks (flat ground....real tight) then this would not be the bike. Great for the longer motocross tracks.

Can you break down the pros and cons of each? I'm currently in the market for a new 450 and the YZ and KX are on the list of possible options.

Great write up Vandy! I have an 18 CRF450 as well and was hoping that somebody would have a comparison. Thanks for input 👍

I just bought a 21, which is exactly the same, and I love it compared to my 18 YZ450f. It turns a lot better than my 18 and seems easier to ride and seems to have more power than my 18.

Hey man if you see this could I ask, what’s the main differences between 19 and 20? I’m really happy with my 2019 just curious what the difference in feeling is

No. New head, new frame, new suspension settings. The '21 is BNG.

Ok. Going to have to test ride one then. I considered a 20 YZF450, but purchased a 20 WE instead. Thnxz..

Had a 19 and I have a 20. Get the 20. No contest.
What’s the difference though? I’m stuck on the 19 not in the position to just switch to a new bike. Just wondering what I’m missing and if it’s worth picking up a leftover 20 later down the line

This just happened to my son's '20....just under 50 hours...so far the head and a couple transmission gears are all that's salvageable.

I've only got 1.3 hours on mine...here in

Australia's free range prison..Victoria...nobody's riding...just hiding! From the cops if you posted something anti ms narrative on Facebook..
Anyway...I traded my 17 YZ 450 in on the 20..
The 17 had a lot of mods all aimed at making it handle better for me..which it did but it was a very heavy feeling bike that really didn't wanna lay into a rut and hold it's line...not without a lot of rider input anyway.
B4 I rode the 20 I put in a powerflow air filter and cage kit..the stocker looks very restrictive and very inadequate, set it up with the TP3 map and moved the bars back to the rear holes, also put on a 110 Pirelli soft terrain rear in place of the 120 dunlop.
The bike felt amazing to ride compared to the 17 and handling felt just like the 2019 yz 250 f I rode..
It lays over into a corner and doesn't wanna stand up too early.
Don't get much sensation of it being a heavy bike...which it is , just doesn't feel heavy in motion.
The motor is phenomenal so powerful yet so easy to ride and tractable.
Best suspension of any bike I've ever owned or ridden 100%!!
Havent even checked the sag yet..I'm 175 kg. Was dropping a little quick in the rear so I went in a quarter turn on hi speed comp...just amazing. Can get away with anything on this bike and the plush feeling is always there....just amazing!
Can't wait to ride it again some day..😫😫
